Last 4 years…actually have won a round every year:
19: Conference finals, lost to Boston
20: Second round, lost to Boston,
21: Second round lost to SC champ Tampa
22: Second round loss to rangers (without their top goaltender)

Team is maturing….I wouldn’t underestimate their playoff potential this year
Yeah with their core they’re gonna be allright for a long time.

Their top goaltender is a playoff choker as well. Andersen would not have made a lick of difference in the series against us because they couldn't score a goal when the Rangers had the matchup advantage. They are a regular season powerhouse due to play style but I dont love their chances when they dont have the top end talent to match teams like Boston, Tampa and yes the Rangers
2020 says hello.

You need to have the puck in the first place in order to turn it over. It's not uncommon to see some of the best players in the league lead in the turnover stat. The fact that Carpenter was #1 on the list, despite rarely having the puck on his stick, is legitimately insane.
Then why would it be looked as a negative for Panarin?

Ok lets go try to win. Would like to to see 2 line changes.

Move goodrow to the right of chytil and laf which drops vesey to line 4.

Dress jonny bro and sit blais.

The raw number itself isn't all that alarming, but the huge increase in the last month lines up with the eye test that Panarin has been turning the puck over a ton lately. Panarin attempts a ton of high-difficulty passes. Whether he's become predicatable, or he's just making poor decisions with the puck, I don't know. My sense is that it's a bit of both.

Turnovers are a stat that requires a lot of nuance to discuss. You almost always need additional stats to put it into context (xGF/xGA is a good place to start. I'd assume the increase in turnover rate directly correlates at least to an increase in xGA over the same time span). I don't claim to have all the answers.

Lol nothing that happened in the mid-summer bubble playoffs means anything to me. Especially when we beat a better Canes team in an actual 7 game series with fans
I leave it at this…top goalies make the difference in playoffs and long time Ranger fans surely know it.

I go back to the mid 60’s and the only non-primary Ranger goalie I was comfortable with in a key playoff game was Gilles Vllemure instead of Giacomim. Richter, Lundqvist, Vanbiesbrouck and now Shesterkin were/are not replaceable.

Do you really think Rangers would have won the series with Georgiev?

In any event, let’s hope it’s a good game.

And then it said goodbye almost right away to the Hurricanes when they lost to Boston in the next round. Congrats I guess.

Rangers beat the Canes in a real 7 game series just a few months ago. Seems more relevant to look at that than the Canes beating a Rangers team in August of 2020 in a play in round for a bubble playoff situation, god willing I don't think we'll be seeing a similar scenario any time soon. Not to mention the fact that the 2020 Rangers -> 2022 Rangers barely even resemble each other. New starting goalie, new coach, new GM, half of the roster is different.

Comparing Freddie Andersen to Shesterkin is not going to strengthen your point here.

Not to mention the fact that Andersen is well known for being a strong regular season goalie who falters in the playoffs. The Hurricanes beat Boston, a team many considered better than the Rangers and a darkhorse last season, with Raanta in net.

Doesn't look like losing Trochek has hurt the Canes a whole lot this year. I'm glad VT is on our squad (and Strome is gone) but I was hoping that not having him would hurt the Canes.

Hopeful for a well played game from the home team tonight.

LGR!

a rare win at home would be nice. hearing the goal song a cpl times would be really nice too. haven't heard it since last dec 22 and only 4 or more a total of 5 times in 19 home games...boring as hell and losing more often than not is not fun

I am not impressed with the Canes ...years ago we always beat them...we have there number

Does Gauthier break out vs his old team? Go Rangers

Just saw a Shattenkirk jersey in Penn. Can't believe one was actually sold.

I saw Brashear and Tom Poti jerseys in the stands, during those era of Rangers hockey. Anything is possible

They had great C depth and Necas has really stepped up
