There selections in the 2nd/3rd/4th rounds are killing them.

It's probably the big reason they fired the entire scouting staff last year.

Lombardi always said that if you fail to get TWO roster players each draft....You are going to have issues icing an NHL roster.

Oh my god, I found this gem on the oilers board. No mods, I am not trolling, this is just the most hilarious picture I've ever seen :laugh::laugh:

Oh god

Yah. Is it the Kings fault that the Oilers can't beat their third string goalie? Pfft.

Not to self, run Eakins.

Just got back from my first kings game in over a decade, and my 10 yr old and 7 yr. old sons first game ever. Had an absolute blast.

Just a couple of random thoughts about the night:

It's quite a different point of view seeing the game live than on TV. Things happen so much faster, pucks are shot so much faster, guys are much bigger. Doughty's hit...omg I thought he killed him. Even Stoll's block shot in the first I was screaming ouch from my seat.

I sat in section 208, got to watch the brilliance of Jones play close up for 2 periods. Kid is so poised, Kings are so lucky to have the depth they have.

The puck hops a ton. I'm surprised they complete as many passes as they do. Sitting behind the net allowed me too see breakouts perfectly. Kings were so solid in that aspect.

Are fans at staples always so awesome? My younger son opened a pack of lemon heads and they went flying everywhere, leaving just one in the package. With him sobbing in mom's arm upset about it, within 15 minutes we had 2 groups of people sitting in the row in front of us, and the row behind us, bring him a new pack. Made my son's night, and also mine.

Wish I could afford to attend more games, will be a night my kids will never forget.

doughty and jones are monsters. Bryzgalov looked decent. for what it's worth, I still believe in Frattin. He may not turn it on this year, but I'm putting money on him turning gold for us in the future, a la King

Trade Randford
:sarcasm:

6 starts, 6 wins, half shutouts.
How do you as a rookie step into net for your 6th start with 1.0 GAA and actually improve your stats.
I like the highlight reel from above... made from only 6 games.
the last goal he let in was a 5 on 3, and it was the only goal he let in that game. Before that he got a shutout?
That's kind of awesome.

Had to DVR the game today... I want to apologize to CNS for not getting the SHUTOUT! in the game day thread. Would have been epic on that 4v6.

Lewis... Lewis... puck on his stick on his blue line empty net.... NNNNOOOOOOOOOOO! FFS!

BTW, Kopitar is already in top 10 in +/- (+16) and only two forwards are better than him (Penner, Saad).

that was a blatant trip. How was that not called.

I'm pretty sure I heard Bob Miller say on the pre game radio show that if Jones won this game he would make history as the first Kings goaltender to start their career 6-0. Did anyone else hear that?

The all-time NHL record is 8-0 BTW.

Bob Froese won his first eight NHL starts with Philadelphia in 1982-83

The ONLY reason this isn't being treated as unbelievably epic is that we're bunched up with other teams in the West with equally ridiculous records, all thanks to the East sucking supreme.

It's impressive as hell. Unbelievable.

Argh, seriously. Have to credit those other teams, though, too. Pacific is insane and no one really got to see it much last year since we were so self-contained, and previously we all just beat each other up. Now that the Canadian teams have joined us, they all see the pain :D

Best start in franchise history too though, no? That's fantastic.

If you thought the puck was hopping last night, you should have seen it during the Calgary game the same night after an afternoon Clipper game.

Absolutely brutal. My God, if they have do this in the playoffs with the Clippers going deep...don't even want to think about it.

Oh lord, they were playing with a rubber hand grenade that night.

Luckily, we won't have to worry about deep NBA playoffs...;)

Oh yes we do.

Clippers are 17-9 and are actually playing below their talent level. Once they get in gear they are easily a WCF finalist, maybe even going to the NBA Finals this season.

Lakers? :golfnana:

I guess, on the bright side, that would typically mean weekend NIGHT playoff games instead of day games?

Chalk that up as a net win in my eyes, ice quality be damned.
