I feel like the Devils' team building strategy is just "which of one these guys passes the best?" and then "which one of these guys skates the fastest?" and then they just take the best passer with above average speed.

Hockey is easy.

They also made it a point to suck long enough to get a ton of assets, including a legit 1C and a legit high end 2C.

We were bad for like 2 minutes and decided we had enough.

Having hockey as your passion in life is like putting your nutsack into a spiked cage and then dipping it in hot oil until it’s golden brown and then enjoying it with some lemon and ranch dressing, celery on the side of course. What were we talking about again?

Maybe we want Hagens that badly. Otherwise, I have no idea how this is happening.
As Machinehead keeps telling us, we have 1.5 nhl defencemen (Fox and Schneider) plus quick in net. 3 goals against sounds about right.
Our inability to look like scoring is annoying though, we're basically relying solely on Panarin for some individual brilliance at this point

I think I’m at the point where Shesterkin and Cuylle are the only players worth retaining on this team. Trade Fox, Lafreniere, Chytil, Schneider… yup.

We got rid of Trouba... shit is still the same.
Miller is injured and hasn't been playing... shit is still the same.
Traded one of our kids Kakko for an amoeba... shit is still the same.
Benched CK over Mika for some reason... she is still the same.

Same low effort offense.
Same 'worst I have ever seen' defense.
Same undisciplined bench.
Just the same bullshit.

I don't think anything is going to fix this team, unfortunately. Nothing.

This team sucks. Its hard watching at this point. They're completely inept.

Imagine how good we could have been if we drafted Hischier and Hughes? Instead, our high draft picks, we got stuck with Lafreniere who is a disappointment and Kakko who was a disaster that we traded.

Tuning out for 3rd. Not worth my time. Happy Holidays.

You have to be bad for longer than we were bad. There's no patience in this org or this fanbase.

I agree 100%, but still baffled how we are THIS bad. It's so f***ing bad. A high school hockey team would beat us right now. No one is even trying.

Even with shit defense we should be able to net 1 or 2 goals. We're not even getting shots. We're not even making passes. We're running into each other and falling down randomly. It's painful.

Yeah like Buffalo.

It’s not just be bad for a long time = guaranteed contender.

As bad as NJ was for a decade, they still needed lottery luck
Or like Pittsburgh, Colorado, or any of the other multi-time winners. Your "BUT BUFFALO" argument is thoroughly moot.

Buffalo is poorly run.

Well run teams tear down, get bad for long enough, then get good again. They don't do so on accident. They know what they are doing and execute the plan.

Throwing Buffalo or Arizona in everyone's face every time someone points out, CORRECTLY, that this team did not acquire and develop enough talent, is wrong. It was wrong during the last rebuilt. It's wrong now. It'll be wrong next time.

We aren't Buffalo. We never will be.

We needed to be worse for longer. This is now proven.
