You are admitting to rooting against this team. I mean, it's a free country but you can hardly call yourself a Red Wings fan when you're on record wishing they wouldn't score goals.

Where did I say I wish he didn't score a goal? I was saying why people would potentially think that way.

And you can make a comment about that, without making it sound like the people who think that way are beneath you.

If you can't see the forest (God forbid Kenny/Babs inviting him back for another year or 3) for the trees (Cleary clogging up scoring lines and PP now by scoring the occasional goal), then there's not much to done for you.

I'm a Wings fan who posts semi-regularly here, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't a few posters who I wish would start rooting for other teams or post elsewhere. The Cleary situation is kinda the same thing. :D

Just watched that highlight for the cleary goal. Man did he ever "veteran presence" that puck into the net. It's good to know it was Weiss holding him back the whole time. He's a lock for the hart Ross now. This has been a very successful post.

I'm happy we scored, but I'd rather it be someone else. The better Cleary does, the more likely it is that Holland and Babcock make decisions that harm the team in the long run. Failure to ice the best possible lineup since game one has cost us much more than a single goal.

If Tatar has one knock it's that he should challenge the player more 1on1, now he just stops - turns - and pass it to his Dman or similar... I think he can beat guys 1on1 if he tried more.

If we were a healthy team. How would this lineup look?

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Alfredsson
Nyquist - Franzen - Tatar
Bertuzzi - Weiss - Abdelkader
Andersson - Helm - Miller

Giving up too many easy chances for the Panthers. Need to focus and keep going the next two periods.

I just can't wait until everyone is healthy and we finally see what this team is capable of.

Listen to yourself. LISTEN to yourself.

The better Cleary does, the better this team does. Why does everyone want Cleary gone. Because he sucks, right? He doesn't score goals. He falls over. He can't make a pass.

I'm rooting for him to not suck. Because a Dan Cleary that sucks is no good for this team.

But you are actually worried that he might be getting better. What kind of a fan are you?

If he tries and fails a few times, he knows it's back to the 4th line or pressbox. He's producing fine without doing that so I say he should do this until he is an absolute regular and then try it.

But you are actually worried that he might be getting better. What kind of a fan are you?

I refuse to believe you don't know what he actually means. You're being purposefully obtuse. Does anyone here actually believe Cleary can go from bumbling buffoon to anything even approaching what kind of player he was 5 years ago? No. Any "improvements" are at best, temporary and lucky. So yes. It worries us that he earns points with a phantom assist here and there, and easy open net shots that a mini-mite could finish on. Because we know that management and the coach love him so much they would bring him back on a team with already too many forwards and already over the cap.

Do you *really* not get that? Or are you just trying to find a way to place yourself above all the other fans.

Just using his teammates more, I think it's better than trying to constantly over-handle the puck.

We get it dude. You are the only one that thinks Dan Cleary can make a difference. It's ad nauseum. Enough is enough.

Not bad, if they want to keep D and Z together. But before Z went down his line with Franzen and Nyquist was sick.

Weiss - Datsyuk - Alfredsson
Nyquist - Zetterberg - Franzen
Tatar - Helm - Bertuzzi
Miller - Andersson - Abdelkader

Kronwall - DeKeyser
Ericsson - Smith
Lashoff - Kindl

Playing on the wing with Datsyuk and Alfredsson might get Weiss going. More importantly no Cleary, Sammy or Quincey.

I'd go one step further and replace Bert with Tootoo and Miller with Eaves.

No. Enough is enough of the whining about Cleary. it is fine to not like him, but it is unacceptable as a fan to wish one our players DIDN'T score a goal. That is not a fan.
