Let off the gas when the game is settled, don't hit anyone and run out the clock? Work on other non scoring aspects. So, what do you suggest?
Play as much defense as you want

It's not an invitational, they are in becuase they deserve to be in.
And if you want to make it like the ladies game where a limited number of teams beat the snot out of everyone else before meeting in the final, that's gonna be great for the game.
Maybe next year Isreal can ice a team and we can see if we can paste them by a century!
Hazzah!
Players use this tournament to polish their resume for an NHL career. Holding back hurts their stats. Look at how fans watch this tournament, putting their NHL prospects before national pride. This isn't the friendly tournament it tries or pretends to be.Sure there is, don't lose to Russia. Winning by 14 is unsportsmanlike, period.

100%Having another team play down to your level would be more demoralizing than getting stomped 14-0 imo
Sure legally
In terms of hockey development, they are kids
. Shoot at the goalies crest, he'll take a bench minor and get some work in on the pk. Work on winning draws. So what do you suggest then? Have them pass the puck around 19 times before they can take a shot? Have them just skate around playing keep away and not try anymore? Im sure that is great for the game too. You think some of these guys on the Danish team have never destroyed other kids before themselves?
Exactly. They are in because they deserve it. Therefor when they meet the top teams, anything goes.
Hilarious to see people accuse Canada of "running up the score".
They kept playing. Are any of you competitive at all? Do you want a team to just take pity on you?
These kids are not taking it as hard as some if you are, I guarantee
Yeah guys are going to jump tons of spots in the draft on the backs of pasting denmark.Players use this tournament to polish their resume for an NHL career. Holding back hurts their stats. Kind of boring that the scoring race just lost it's meaning before most teams even played a single game.
You question whether people have ever played competitively and then say that some folks here are taking it harder than the kids who just lost 0-14 on one of the world’s biggest stages?? I’d question whether you’ve played competitively in any sport or game with that comment.

If a team won't lay down and is still playing the body down 14, you have to protect yourself.
It's too bad we didn't call a timeout up 14 to strategize about who is gonna do what on an offensive draw.
Because,hurr , hurr, goal differential .
It’s one thing to run up the score when your team is firing on all cylinders and your colleague’s team is mailing it in.
It’s another thing entirely when the teams are clearly in two different stratospheres. Denmark is here cause of their recent history - not their current status.
I’m rooting for Canada but that 3rd period made me uncomfortable to watch. At the very least start rolling your lesser guys after the 10th goal or pull out the bingo balls to experiment with lines in the event of the injury.
The people that take joy from destroying a much lesser opponent are the embarrassment. It's decidedly un-Canadian but I guess we've gotta blow all that excess testosterone somehow, eh.Yeah, a competitive person never wants an opponent to go easy on them.
That is truly embarrassing.
If so 10 is the limit for being a kid?No they aren’t. They’re able to play in the NHL and the other best leagues in the world.
My 10 year old is a kid.

These kids play junior, or go to school or play in second or third rate leagues. They are not pros.
But maybe by running up the score we might get some of these Danish kids to simply quit and then its like the woman's game light.
That's what people are clamoring to see, games that are settled before the puck is dropped.
I'm just a little sad that as the Canadian players kept scoring and scoring that their idiot coach didn't take a time out so that the players could crotch chop the Danish bench. Or get dipietro to play backwards, carey price style.
Or hell since they couldn't even gain the zone we should have pulled the goalie up 14 becuase, again, hurr durrr goal differential.
Thanks but no.
