I don’t believe there’s much wiggle room with Jumbo Joe, if it’s true he was guaranteed to be playing with Matthews and Marner.

I would seriously doubt that, but if he was guaranteed to play with Matthews and Marner, Dubas should be fired on the spot

So glad Leafs are back. I wasn't even mad at the loss like I would usually be, I'm happy to have my hockey back to help make life feel a little more normal again.

There must be a reason most experienced GMs don't make their lineups so top-heavy.

I have a hunch that Dubas and his crew, including Shanahan, will be more cautious over mega-contracts in future.

Marner is the one that really stands out for me.

I have to agree with you on that. I will never forget that draft. My son wanted Strome and I wanted Marner. Was ecstatic when we got him. However, I'm afraid he priced himself off the team (eventually), and has put a tremendous amount of pressure on himself.

Thornton sitting 4th among forwards for time on ice this season, ahead of Tavares/Nylander.

This should change. He should be at like 14-15 minutes, I don't think he has the stamina at this age.

I feel like Dubas keeps walking around the problem. This team needs to get grittier in the bottom 6 and they need shut-down defensemen. Freddy is good but he needs defensemen who can smother the other teams’ forwards and keep high danger chances to a minimum.

Dubas did that in the off season.
If Freddy can only be effective by facing very little quality chances, then he is one of the bigger problems
