What's going on?!!

Palffy is still playing in Slovakia, but has little interest in challenging himself any higher. Slovan Bratislava joined the KHL this season and tried to get him there, but Palffy refused, content to run all over Slovak league instead

Has 151 goals, 233 assists for 384pts with a stunning +262 in just 223 games in 5 years playing in the past 6 years.

:yo:

thanks for that post, i had no idea he was still playing and at such a dominant pace (albeit it few steps below nhl). he was my fav player during his kings years still have a cat named after him.

with how his arm was nearly ripped out of its socket + his other injuries I do not blame him for chillin at home playing in lower leagues. any idea what his contract as far as dollars go?

 Noticed that as well, not sure why he has gotten so many PIM's.

Slovakia is a rather weak league. It would place easily behind KHL, NLA, DEL, SML, SEL, ALK, CZE. Maybe around NLB, FIN2, VHL levels. Even weaker now as Slovan has taken much of the talent with them to the KHL.

But of note is that he has completely rewritten the record book over there, that 08-09 he set pretty much every offensive record in regular season and playoffs (including +/-). Then even beat his assist record in 11-12. Every one of those years except 09-10 he led the league in points (due to injuries, still finished 6th in league, easily #1 in ppg)

Not sure, no contract info. I could be wrong, but I do believe he is at least a part owner of Skalica (which is his hometown team, BTW).

ahh part owner makes sense then...

as for tonight please punk those dirt dogs so i don't have to listen to my phx friends act like they won the cup over 1 game like last one :sarcasm:

would love to have Ziggy back.. but i'm assuming the Slovak league isn't filled Chara's running around. No way Palffy can take a rough, physical game at this point. He was barely hanging on in his prime. Judging from the stats, he might even be the toughest guy in his league right now. Throwing his 180 lbs around all over the place

Isn't Ziggy 60 by now? ;) He was a dynamic player for sure but that was a decade ago.

No offense but that last line makes me want to puke. Kings won the Cup banging bodies on the forecheck and playing physical. The call ups of Nolan and King are considered one of the defining moments of last years team because it brought us back to having big wingers who forecheck like we did with Poni, Zeus, Smyth and Simmonds years before.

Taking out Westgarth, Nolan, Mitchell and Greene and replacing them with Toffoli, Muzzin and Ellerby does not bring that back.

I don't consider Westgarth and whopping 2 minutes a night a loss. Nolan was playing poor and that's why he is scratched, Toffoli had a strong game anyway. Just because Sutter is scratching a 4th liner to see what our top prospect can do doesn't make us less of a team. Fighting isn't everything in hockey anymore.

I'm not really understanding the goon philosophy these days either. Kings look soft? I'd rather score a bunch of goals and win the game rather than show bafoons like Raffi Torres who's boss. The Kings are one of the biggest teams in the league and very rarely get pushed around. Last time I checked our captain isn't really afraid of anything or anyone so I think it will be fine. It's up to the Kings to skate with their heads up, if the Cryotes want to goon it up, let em. I doubt the Kings are interested in any of their garbage anyway, we are usually the team that gets under their skin.

Has anyone heard of any trade rumors about trading Bernier for Iginla of the Calgary Flames? NBC sports mentioned the possible trade..

Can't see us trading Bernier within our new division for a soon to be 36 year old UFA

It would be completely insane to trade Bernier at this point. There is no guarantee that Quick will not get out of this "erratic season" of his. It has become wishful thinking. Let's face it: Jonathan Bernier has become the man of the hour.

Lol that Ellerby interview is the most common answers. Puck in deep, pucks on net, puck in net lol.

My thoughts exactly, When NBC sports mentioned the trade I thought the Kings would have to be crazy to trade Bernier at this time. Go Kings!!
