Kings are starting to lost the playoff image by subbing in guys like Toffoli for Nolan.

Bad enough Greene and Mitchell were replaced by Muzzin and Ellerby...no offense to either but they are not stay at home, experienced guys who other teams hate playing agaisnt and respected through out the NHL.

Greene and Mitchell are not easy to replace, what do you want Lombardi to do ?

I love reading Sutter's comments about Kopitar, but me personally, I haven't been satisfied with Kopitar's offensive game this year. He's capable of more.

I still think he plays better when he has a goal scoring mentality.

Complaining about his offensive when he is at just under a point per game. He has always been a better play maker even with his very good shot. If we were to ever find a sniper that would mesh with him he would put up assist numbers that would make the rest of the league cry.

The Kings are not going to mess with what they have going so they can win more staged fights.

Who cares if Fraser steps up and gets his clock cleaned. We have plenty of guys on this team who can and will answer if someone throws a cheap shot or even a big clean hit (as we saw Muzzin do in SJ)

The days of this team dresssing goons or not playing a promising young player to insert toughness are over.

If DS thinks having Toffoli on line 2 and Penner on line 4 is going to help the Kings score more goals than Phoenix after 60 minutes tonight, he is going to do it, and I trust him.

Ziggy signed with Pittsburgh after the lockout.

Go on.

A myth.

Sutter summing up why Kopitar is my favorite player in a way I couldn't with an authority on the matter I don't have. :yo:

No offense but that last line makes me want to puke. Kings won the Cup banging bodies on the forecheck and playing physical. The call ups of Nolan and King are considered one of the defining moments of last years team because it brought us back to having big wingers who forecheck like we did with Poni, Zeus, Smyth and Simmonds years before.

Taking out Westgarth, Nolan, Mitchell and Greene and replacing them with Toffoli, Muzzin and Ellerby does not bring that back.

I disagree with the Toffoli/Nolan. We have a kid that was tearing up the AHL and have players that are going to be UFA's, Penner being the big one. Can this kid replace him. We need to know that and quick. Since things at the NHL level are different. It also does well to get him up and show him he needs to put some more weight on. We are still one of the biggest and hard hitting teams in the league. That is a pain to play against. That controls the puck and forcheck. So where has the image gone?

As to Green and Mitchell guess good stay at home D must grow on trees. When your guys go down you replace them with what you have and where they are not the same they have done an OK job considering their ages. They are both under 25 and make at least 25% of what the other two guys make. And that is the real great thing about it. With young D mistakes are going to be make and with that we are still in 6th and have complete control over our playoff spot. A ROW win tonight we are back in 4th and hold the first tie break.

We still play very physical hockey, even with Nolan out for the time being. You don't have to fight to be physical. These guys hit a lot and their opponents can't handle it. That is the ideal scenario as far as team toughness goes.

He needs to shoot more. So does Voynov.

Why are you being sensitive? I just corrected you.

I said I would have loved to see Kopitar play alongside Palffy.

You said that Palffy signed with Pittsburgh during the lockout... which
1) is common knowledge.
2) is not a correction to what I said.

Hence why I asked you to go on. I figured there was a point to you posting that statement.

Well, ****. You knew for damn sure I was talking about the 2005-06 season (the only season Kopi would've been eligible to play in before 2006-07) and you randomly brought up a player who was not with the Kings anymore at that time. So yeah, you can't blame me for being confused why you brought up Palffy.

So, that means we shouldn't ever try it again?

And just how many games is that, 2 or 3 max???

They should try it when one of them gives the coach confidence they can handle it. We'll see what he thinks tomorrow or maybe more accurately when the Kings win the first game of a back to back again. I don't see why this is such a hard thing for you to digest. Both goalies have struggled playing back to backs this year. Maybe it is a coincidence but the prudent thing to do is at least acknowledge the trend and try splitting the games between both goalies and see what happens. Or they can just keep doing the same thing and hope for different results.

I personally would like to see them split the next two games and give whoever performs better the game on Thursday. There is no reason to show loyalty to any goalie at this point. Go with the hot hand and if that is Bernier, it will only up his trade value. I personally don't think it is a coincidence that Quick had back surgery and he seems to be struggling. Yeah, defense has been suspect at times this year but Bernier is playing with the same guys in front of him.

Sad to see the Kings retiring the nicest jersey they have ever had.

It is representative of the worst era in Kings hockey and for that reason I'm burning every article of clothing I have with that logo and color scheme on it.

You equate toughness with fighting, and it's really tired at this point. The Kings ice three of the top 20 in hits this season in Clifford, Brown, and Doughty, and we have continued to play a physical game even with Mitchell and Greene out. As for Westgarth, I have no idea why you keep bringing him up, Sutter wouldn't be playing him even if he was here. He's a one dimensional goon, let it go Johnny

If Toffoli scores, Carter will score. He and Richards will keep passing it to Toffoli until he gets that first goal

Phoenix has also Morris and Doan who like to get in the face of the Kings. With Greene and Mitchell out, Westgarth traded and Nolan sitting the Kings are looking a little soft. Colin Fraser? A punching bag. Mike Richards? Come on.

Clifford has had to do all the heavy lifting the past few games and I don't like it especially after what happened with him a few years back when he had a few concussions from scraps with guys like Brookbank and Reaves. He is proving he is much more of a hockey player than just an enforcer.

You wait and see, Cliffy will get knocked silly and Kings will regret this.

Again with this? Come on. Lots of games this month and nolan has slipped as of late playing less than westy did. If someone is going to play 5 minutes or less what's the freaking point? A staged fight?

The Kings will be fine.

me too. He has proven in international play that he still has it too.

Palffy is still playing in Slovakia, but has little interest in challenging himself any higher. Slovan Bratislava joined the KHL this season and tried to get him there, but Palffy refused, content to run all over Slovak league instead

Has 151 goals, 233 assists for 384pts with a stunning +262 in just 223 games in 5 years playing in the past 6 years.
