Effort was there tonight, creativity and skill though are in short supply. Stutzle looks like he's playing a different game than the rest of the team, the disconnect is jarring.

Good to see the Chuck Norris line being the one on the scoreboard on Pizza night; that's the line we thought would be the deserving successor, and who knows it might yet be.

Well, our problems at the forward position came much earlier than I expected. Of course Giroux is 36 y/o so that was a bit expected. Now imagine if Norris wasn't back to form lol, it would be a disaster

We have 3 elite/star forwards, then Norris and Giroux and a surprise in Gaudette

Tkachuk 13 goals
Gaudette 12 goals
Norris 11 goals
Stutzle 10 goals
Batherson 9 goals
Giroux 6 goals

Then no one else has more than 2 goals. We all expected more from Pinto, Greig and Perron though but my concern going forward was going to be the forward group but I thought we had 1 or 2 years before that

Who is our best forward prospect? Halliday? Montgomery?

That said, nice to see we survived another day, thanks to Norris. Have to win all these games at home, it is crucial.

I was there last night, and the atmosphere was quiet and nonexistent. The excitement has worn off in the last three weeks. The team played okay. I suppose the rumor mill of Norris being shopped around may have 'hook, line, and sinker' to any prospective trade partners.

I agree, but will say I though Hamonic was pretty unnoticeable vs Detroit outside of a big block on the PK and a surprisingly calm outlet pass while under pressure in the 3rd.
He's been great relative to my 7th D expectations, but he belongs on the bottom pair, this is worse than when we put Boro with Karlsson.

Back from the game. Glad to get the win. Energy in the building during the third was grim; people were quite miffed at the refs.

Also, was surprised they gave Tyler Motte a 'welcome back' on the Jumbotron and not, y'know, Tarasenko.
Always liked Motte, was a good 4th liner for us.

That's a normal Senators game for you. We don't make any noise unless the team does something good or scores multiple goals on the PP. It's embaressing going to a live game these days, when I went to the Oiler game a few weeks ago I was surrounded by Oiler fans chanting almost all night long.

That's because the fans are waiting for the inevitable collapse in virtually every game and are unwilling to commit themselves emotionally.

Beating a useless team like the Wings 2-1 with 40 seconds left after dominating them for 2/3 of the game isn't going to change that.

The terrible officiating doesn't help either.

We need to score on our chances. With the talent we have, there really is no excuse for not scoring on one of our 5 PP opportunities, we had over 8 mins of man advantage, and only managed 3 shots on net against one of the worst PK teams in the league.

The team is double clutching on it's chances, and overpassing, confidence isn't there. We need to get that ball rolling.

On paper tho it’s what you’d expect to see.

I knew we weren't going to score on the PP once Miller and Johnson made such a big deal about how horrid their PK is.

Glad to see the win, but gotta say the entertainment level when watching this years team is quite low. They don't frustrate the hell out of me the way the DJ Smith teams did, but they also don't do anything that looks to me like "really good hockey".

And biggest problem, IMO, is they just don't win enough puck battles.

I’ll add to that their passing is not very crisp which makes them look really sloppy with possession

Winning games, especially winning games with big goals late, will absolutely change that. Winning changes everything, it doesn't really matter how useless the other team is.

If they string together a good December then there will be energy in the arena for January.
