ok, we still won. They arent the worst team in the league as of now and we hadn't won in San Jose the last 5 times we played there, they weren't good for most of that time either. 2 points is 2 points.
We did win, that's great. Everyone is happy to come out with 2 points.

Winning doesn't make criticisms; extremely, EXTREMELY, obvious ones null and void.

SJ have the least wins in the league, most losses in the league, lowest points % in the league, 2nd worst goal differential in the league, and are 1 point out of last with 3 games in hand. They are most defnitely the worst team in the league.

It would be very strange and weird to not be upset at how they played last night.

I stayed up and watched.

That was one of them thar games that we won and did not disserve to win,

They made the Sharks look like the class of the league with their play. They out worked us, out smarted us, out skated us from beginning to end.

2 very lucky points thanks to Ullmark, Stutzle and Gaudette

Happy for the K Train to get one on the Klev Bomb. Impressed with Celebrini... are the Sharks already ahead of the Sens wrt their rebuild and giving us Stutzle.

This team should be embarrassed. The will to work is one thing that should not be fleeting and with this group it is. Too many underperforming.

San Jose also routinely gets outplayed night after night by other teams. They were like the worst possession team heading into last night and their expected goals percentage was among the lowest. I really do hope it was just due to a one-day break and a jet lag and they look respectable against the Kings on Saturday.

And for f***'s sake get Hamonic off that top pairing before the damage he does is irreversible. It's not funny anymore. Why are we wasting our best RD on making sure our #6 d-man gets going? Is this going to take green another 10 games to figure out?

They had a terrible start losing their first 8 games, have been much better since. we've had this done so many times to us, it all evens out in the end, you win games shouldn't and lose some when you're the better team.

They get a two day break now and LA plays 3 games in 4 nights. Absolutely no excuse to not show up on Saturday.
There should never be an excuse not to show up. This was a perfect game for this group... Won the game and and mailed it in. They will very likely try the formula again.

To be fair, SJ is a different team with Celebrini in the lineup,

With: 13 GP, 38 GF, 44 GA
Without: 12 GP, 28 GF, 45 GA

Now, I'm still upset about how we played, but with Celebrini in the lineup, I think SJ is better than they get credit for, prior to last nights game, they were pacing at 65 pts for the season, but 82 while Celebrini was in the lineup. Edit: That means, they were pacing at 48pts in games without him... wow that's a big difference.

I stayed up and watched. San Jose looked like a playoff power house and we looked like a lottery team.

Ullmark was solid. Stutzle was brilliant and Gaudette continues to defy all expectation.

I was impressed with Celebrini. It was my first real viewing of him. Looked like a mini Sidney Crosby.

I hate to say this but if Ottawa is going to get schooled by one of the worst teams in the league, then there is no hope.

I only saw the highlites but it is nice to see that in spite of being so widely outshot they managed to win. It's an ugly win but it makes up for the Philadelphia lose.

Ullmark definitely stole that one. Got real dicey, but he made some 10 bell saves to keep them in it. Swallowed up pucks when they needed him to. Sure gives some confidence moving forward if he plays more like that.

Gaudette had a strange game. He was both really good and absolutely awful in the D zone a few times, but then so was almost the whole team, so it's a write off. I like the look of him on that Stutzle line over anyone else we've had there this year. That line was definitely their best line and a heck of a play by Stu on that last goal.

Bitching about Hamonic is so overboard. He was fine. Too many minutes for the guy, but really he was no worse than anyone else on D last night and made a few savvy plays. Didn't like his coverage on Celebrini on that goal, but he got beat by a very superior player, it happens. JBD I thought lost coverage a couple times more egregiously but also looked more aggressive, so hopefully that continues.

I liked what they said on the broadcast. Just burn that tape and move on. They won one they didn't deserve, just like they've lost some they should have won. We all expected Ullmark to steal some this year. It's discouraging to be schooled by the Sharks, but they were on the road in a different time zone and I consider it a write off. They've also looked much better against better teams in a lot of games, just didn't get any goaltending, so the pendulum swung hard this time, but I don't think it's a guarantee they come out like that in LA.

I think our middle-six has the personnel to provide at least average secondary scoring. They're pretty much a non-factor most nights.

The Free Agent vets don’t contribute to wins, and so it’s hard to lead. Amadio, Perron, Cousins are all slow and they aren’t impacting anything.

The focus this off-season was veterans, but it made us slow. We got these guys to provide leadership in wins, not loses. Not working at the moment - don’t care what Perron or Amadio think after a lose they contributed nothing towards the game, sorry.

We are losing because the vets aren’t showing up - how is this helping?

Maybe it's time to switch Greig and Pinto and have Greig centre the line at this point. Greig says he's more comfortable at centre and maybe it takes some of the load off Pinto if he's still nursing an injuiry.

Even his FO% is down, maybe he's dealing with core, or upper body strain. Nothing that would prevent him from playing, but might explain why he doesn't seem to have it atm.

edit: also, wtf is with Stutzle wrt faceoffs... 29%???

Perron hasn't even played half the games, and has had a pretty big life event distraction, so hard to judge that one yet.

Cousins has played well in a lot of times imo and certainly isn't slow to a detriment, it's just all those dumb ass penalties that have detracted from any good he's done. We were warned and it seems it's a bit true, he needs to be much smarter out there.

Amadio has had a hard time. He still makes the smart plays and imo shows his veteran savvy in the little things, but with his production being so low, it's clearly why he's being bumped down the lineup and should be. Pick it up or stay on the 4th line.

Pinto had an interview the other day where he was praising the vets. Said they've gotten their heads down and start to separate from each other in the past but that the vets were keeping the group together and urging them to lean on each other, etc.. If they can dig themselves out of this hole and Ullmark plays well, who knows. I'm willing to bet we haven't seen the best of Perron/Amadio yet.

Not sure what game you were watching but Brady played well. Very responsibly defensively and was strong along boards unlike virtually every other Senator. Also his pass to Timmy set up the rush on Gaudette's first goal.

Shots on goal were 39-11, we blocked 24 shots, they only blocked 6. So shot attempts were 63-17. We got our teeth kicked in by the worst team in hockey.

Brady registered 1 shot, which was a non-threatening Slapshot from the Blueline.
He registered 0 hits, had 1 giveaway and 0 takeaways. This isn't even average Brady, 1 shot and 0 hits, I couldn't even tell you the last time he had those numbers.

The entire team played like ass. It's his job to help get the guys going by taking a game like this over. If either team had average goaltending, we would have lost.

Literally the only people you can give credit to in a game like this are the ones that won the game for you. Ullmark, Stu, and Gaudette.

We didn’t look slow when we obliterated the bruins and leafs
And speed bagged the rangers (all alledged juggernauts)
Yeah, this was definitely not the norm for this team.

Idk what it was but they didn't really have their legs. It looked like they were starting to find them right before the first SJ goal, but after that, it was chip the puck up the boards dump and change, no forcheck to speak of and the changes were all sloppy.

Everything we were doing seemed to make it worse, because our lack of forcheck just meant they could come at us with speed through the NZ, when meant the D had to back off or risk getting burnt, when meant we got chasing the play in our end and needed another change, so we repeat the cycle.

Not sure what you do after an effort like that, bag skate them or rest is a weapon...

The locker room has always been happy even when we were a bottom team for multiple season so I dont care that everyone likes each other, that shouldn’t even be part of the equation, it should be about winning and not the friendship state of the players at the end of the season.

Maybe everybody in the team is just to nice. All we hear about is how great it is, maybe it is a country club in Otttawa and everyone loves it, certainly Looks that way recently.

Amadio, Perron and Pinto need to start contributing right away. These 3 players on are on pace for a TOTAL of 13 goals between all 3 of them.

Countdown to Pinto getting shelved for the year. 10...9....8...7....

It won't be long and he'll be out for a LONG time. Watching him from draft to now, there's something very wrong with him. He must need surgery or a long stint of physio.

They are statistically the worst team in the league.
