Sadly, we have the 2nd least amount of Cap Space of all teams in the NHL. Any deal would more or less have to be cash out/cash in. With the uptick in Freddy's play he is a bargain contract- don't want to lose that. Marjo, for all the complaints, is fairly paid at 2M. I'd far rather have him than Devin Shore, and Ohgren isn't ready yet. Even then, you'd just save 1.2M at most trading him. You can argue that Hartman is overpaid at 4M, but he's got a NMC, and he provides some sandpaper to the team that it needs. Even a guy like Merrill only makes 1.2M... that's just a hair above replacement cost(Hunt 830K).
The only salary, to me, that is losable is Trennion(3.5M). I see his value at about 2M as a 4th line crash banger. Maybe add in Merrill, and you get almost 4M in cap saved which can be applied to the player coming in - most players of note make more than that, even if BG was willing to admit his mistake and move Trenin.

Hartman is worth every bit of his 4m , he has infinity more goals than trenin and does everything trenin is supposed to do better

Foligno knocked him off his skates last night and it look like he seen a ghost.
Maybe I'm wrong or buffalo has huge forwards.
Foligno is a big dude and caught Quinn admiring his skates. He would have sent any player flying in the same circumstance and likely deserved a penalty for it as it was well after the play and totally unexpected. I don’t see Quinn as small or outmatched physically but that’s not his game. Hes a high skill top 6 forward. Why do we care if he can grind. Hes a buy low candidate right now and id be on the phone. I couldn’t believe it when I saw his stat line for this year so far and rumors that he might be available.

No I hear you , as hes an upgrade over mojo in the top 6 , just at the right price, dont know what they'd want for Quinn.
We are winning and wouldn't wanna disrupt the chemistry we have or overpay.

It’s such a weird dynamic this year because we need to keep Kap and he needs to feel like we are serious but i don’t see any way to contend as we are built. We aren’t winning shit with Zucc and Marjo in the top 6 when it comes playoff time.

Apparently according to someone named Chris Johnston, the Wild are THE frontrunner for Jiricek. I imagine the offer is Heidt/Ohgren and a 1st, and I'm skeptical of Jiricek becoming the player a lot of people think he will be. High risk/high reward move I guess.

Not even going to entertain the idea that it's any of Yurov, Buium, Wallstedt going the other way, because that would be lunacy, and while my expectations of Guerin are low, my hope that he's not that bad still outweighs the expectations.

Please be Heidt, please be Heidt.

We need a young scoring winger as much as we need a big RHD. If we can get both Ohgren and Jiricek...

Heidt can also be the young scoring winger, so far Ohgren hasn't inspired much confidence

At least for me, he's inspired more confidence than Heidt. Hard to compare obviously, difference ages, different draft year, but its obvious I like Ohgren's skillset and physical makeup and he's 5 goals in 6 AHL games. Not a bad start.

I think if we get Jiricek it will be Heidt or Ohgren as the main piece. Hopefully the former. Then one of the Iowa D and a pick

Heidt + Hunt + 2nd
Ohgren + Spacek + 3rd
