against san jose? ugh. that's a bad idea. these guys need to get over the vigneault hangover, as much as i hate to say it.

Thats the way the game was shaping up to be. I don't think there was anything wrong with that thinking when 59 min of the game went exactly that way.

I wonder how many shutouts he has lost in the last minute in his career. I'd love to see the stats for goalies who have allowed the most goals in the final 5 minutes of hockey games....career. Sure seems to be a common feature of Lu's game.

But so did Schneids when he was on this team. It's not a coincidence, they got lazy for long stretches previous to Torts getting here. This one is more up to bad luck but yes, he made a glaring technical mistake on the OT winner IMO.

You may call it underperforming, but those guys aren't going to score more than that for the rest of their careers.

We need a re-build, this will still likely make the playoffs, but our chances of winning the Cup are slim to none.

Yup. He did not score in the last 10 games, so lets ignore everything he has done for the team in the last 5 years, ignore all the intangibles he brings and trade him right away.

Burrows never really put up numbers unless he was playing with the Twins. He has not been playing with the Twins this year.

Without the Twins Burrows is a decent 2nd liner. I would put him back with the Twins because that is where he has had success.

So in the last 8 games the Sharks have had 44 powerplay opportunities against the Canucks. The Canucks have only had 23.

Sometimes the NHL just can't help but show its bias.

Why do people keep saying the team is good? They severely lack firepower up front. There's no way to sugar coat it.

Yeah, you can say they "just need to add this or that" but right now they don't have a 2nd line centre or a winger that can finish. We have Kesler playing RW, what a mess. I cringe every time i see a lineup on paper with him on that top line.

2nd line centre
top line winger
3rd line centre

Basically this team needs those 3 things. Until then, the Canucks are mediocre to middle of the pack. Hopefully we can pick those things up in free agency and maybe one of the prospects makes the team next year. I'm ok with the fact that we suck this year but it annoys me when people on here get bashed for calling the team what it is, which is a 7th/8th seed calibre team going by the old playoff format.
Pretty much what I feel. I think some people are still in denial and believe they are a very good team that can run with the Hawks, Bruins etc of the league. Simply not true. Take the Canucks for what they are and what they are is a middle of the pack team that if they make the playoffs will probably make it as an 7th or 8th seed. I would be shocked to see this team do any real damage in the playoffs. I'm not just saying that because of this loss either. Hell they played real well tonight. Should have gotten the 2 points.
But just look at the line up. It's not a line up of a real legit contending team.

Well that was a really disappointing end to a pretty boring game.

lol @ the whining about the refs in this thread though. You can't hang this game on the officiating, sorry.

This team needs a 2nd line, badly. To me, it almost looks like the Twins are starting to get tired/worn down already...the last few games they've been making all kinds of mistakes defensively, getting caught behind plays, caught cheating, trying to take shortcuts...taking penalties. No surprise, almost no players in the league can play those kind of minutes night in and night out without cutting some corners somewhere. Especially when there is STILL no coherent breakout plan other than 'chip it up the wall and hope it gets out' or 'lug the puck up ice yourself from below the hashmarks'. :shakehead:

David Booth is easily the worst acquisition Mike Gillis has ever made.

Keith Ballard was. We gave up more assets than what we gave up to get Booth. Booth will be buyout candidate #2 in any event (assuming he doesn't get hurt again - better to bench him to avoid that happening).
