I would trade Booth for herpes at this point. I would inflict herpes upon myself if it somehow meant the Canucks would be rid of David Booth.

3 Canucks went down blocking the shot and left Hertl all alone with all the time in the world to pick up the deflection. Not Luongo's fault.

OT goal wasn't good but it wasn't terrible. He played the one timer, got the ice completely covered and the glove there for the hail mary stop. Misjudged it as he had more time.

What is Luongo doing reaching and not pushing side to side when the puck goes cross ice? His teammates go down to block the shot, thats on them. Luongo fails to push across, thats on him.

When is the last time we have seen him push and slide, side to side, when the puck goes across the ice?

Hatred? If Booth is still here come next season, I wonder what's wrong with Gillis as well. Time to get over it and admit you made a mistake - get him off this team.

If Booth is not bought out, I have to assume Aquilini is to blame. He was reluctant to buyout Ballard after all. Hopefully, we can ditch Booth as a cap dump, although he wasn't bad tonight.

only way to get rid of Booth is keep half the salary and some team will agree to it.....but won't get anything back

Watched the replay and it was agonizing to watch him fall forward as he tries to slide across. I know he went down when the pass from Couture went to the other Sharks forward on his right, but is there really no way he can shuffle across without belly flopping?

Not blaming it on him, but he needed to be better here.

It's been like this for a while, getting worse. He just can't get accross anymore. He has to really dig in, runs out of time and then just falls forward. Watch some of the younger goalie get accross the net and you'll see what I mean. They stay low and take away a lot of goals that way. Luongo simply doesn't seem to have that explosiveness in him any more. Understandable as he's got a lot of miles on him and had some groin issues.

He gets by on veteran savvy, positioning and size at this stage. But he hasn't been getting accross the net very well for a few years now. Just getting worse.

1 point and 2nd in the East. As have been written before, the team has played tough teams for a while now. The standings will look different in a couple of months.

But I do not like the chances against the Sharks in a seven games series, but lets hope that will not happen.

We were not even in the top eight in 2011, yet managed to win the President's Trophy. I would rather bank on statistical evidence than pessimistic anecdotes in the midst of November. They are certainly more creditable, non?

Exactly. This team is a notoriously slow starter. They have looked as good through 20 as they have in many years.

I don't think they're going to be an elite team, but to fret over being a point out of a playoff spot with 60 games left is silly. If the team continues to outplay the best clubs in the league and bring the consistent team effort and excellent defensive play, they will be in the top 8 when all is said and done.

They will need another impact forward though to have a chance to get out of the West IMO. Still not enough finish up front.

Almost all of you are far to emotionally involved with this team to see what they really are.

We will miss the playoffs. We are no longer elite. We are a middle of the pack team. We need to start shedding pieces and do a mini rebuild. Bieksa or Edler need to go. Burrows needs to go too.

Send them off at the deadline and get some prospects with the return.

Statistically, Canucks have regressed while others improved. Anyways, I'm not saying Canucks will miss, just that we shouldn't rely on what happened in the past and assume the Canucks will just start playing better and winning games.

I'm not trying to defend him here, but it's very difficult to push and slide from the position he was in. That is why he didn't make it across. I would argue that he shouldn't have tried to block that side in the first place.

Also, he's not a younger goalie who has grown up with the 'push and slide'. If you have been following his career, he never even had the ability to do that sort of thing until Melanson came in and forced him to learn it.

Yeah, the key to building a good team is by trading your best players. Tough to build a great team without moving your biggest contributors.

Edmonton had the right idea with their mini re-build when they moved Pronger. They have just been unlucky to have to sit and watch playoffs for the last decade.

I love the defense but at this point I'm willing to let one of the core guys (Edler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Garrison) go in order to upgrade the forward group.

Luongo was at the top of his crease to stop the shot from the point. As soon as he saw the shot was fanned and had gotten to Hertl, he tried as hard as he physically could to reach across. From where he started there's no way he would have been able to push across in time, especially since Hertl was behind essentially on the opposite side of where he was originally facing.

Yup. People can refuse to see it all they want, Luongo is a known commodity. Side to side, he's got nothing.

Every time out, a team should be coached to swing the puck across the ice. If a scoring opportunity doesn't materialize, at least they wil have Luongo prone for anything following after that.

We won't miss the playoffs, but we likely won't go anywhere in the playoffs either. Too good to suck, and not good enough to win.
