I also prefer beating the Blues. Not only does their team hate the Kings, they go out of their way to show it. I like that and respect it. No cheapshots either. Their guys will square up and fight ours.

1. one reaon why I respect their team more than Vancouver.
2. Blues fans are better hockey fans than Vancouver fans. there cannot be any argument there.

I dislike the Blues going back to the 90s when they'd count their friggin' goals for (and believe me, I was used to hearing that often as they used to score at will against the Kings).

Similar to the Stars throughout the 90s, the Blues dominated the Kings for the most part. I also really disliked Keenan and his cocky, pompous attitude, so I was thankful that he eventually dismantled that team and turned them into a bunch of old, over the hill geezers.

Not to mention what happened in the '98 playoffs, which was embarrassing to watch as a Kings fan.

I really hope penner stays with Richards and carter. They are starting to click like the playoffs last year. I'm really happy for penner right now, guy takes a lot of **** but has been great for several games now.

This was a statement game, as I said before. Not only do the Blues get crushed again, but we are strong late in games even in a second game of a back to back. One key thing I would like to see from our team is for them to have the best record in 2nd b2b games.

Also, Jeff Carter is always sick in 3rd periods of big games.

Fine and dandy, but maybe they'll learn to quit yapping when they go up in games or tell guys like Stewart with his stupid "sshhhhhhssh" move that he paid for last year or his ridiculous 4th goal reaction tonight to just shut the hell up and keep their foot on the gas in a game like this.

Justin Williams made it very clear in the post-game radio interview that they did not like the Blues actions after the 4th goal and at the start of the third and that had a lot to do with what happened tonight. Beat that Kings, fine, piss them off, and you'll pay. That message was clear tonight. I expect we've heard the last from that jackass Stewart.

So the Kings have 8 goals in their last two 3rd periods.....yeah, that actually happened

Nolan was -2 and only played 5 minutes. That makes me nervous.

Also, not very comfortable having Clifford, Nolan or King fight guys like Stewart or Reeves, those guys are heavies who can hurt you.

Confused but not suprised by your post. Are you saying nolan should have played more already being a minus 2 in 5 as you stated, or still think someone should sit for a goon?

Looks to me like the kings handled themselves just fine....kings don't need an enforcer end of story.

Anyone catch Pietrangelo chirping the bench after that fourth goal? Only makes the win sweeter.

No way! Delicious. I'd love to see it.

I was going to say, just like insider did, that it was nice to finally see them push back from the playoffs last year...but they just found a way to make themselves even MORE of our playtoys, haha. I like how that team is built--they're like our mirror image in some ways--but man, they are so fragile mentally.

Somehow, though, Perron always escapes harm. I don't want him injured, just bruised lots. he's annoying.

The Blues are the only team worth a crap who will dress as many guys who can fight as we do. We have a whole line full of fighters, with Penner and King who can also fight in addition to Ellerby. That kind of dressing goons hockey is DEAD, we don't need one. Plus with our PP really coming around we will just outscore them, and then once they get out of the box, our guys will run their players over. That is how this team works now.

Columbus and Vancouver are the only teams in the West with more fighting majors than us. Columbus is garbage so who cares what they put out there, and Vancouver is easy to agitate with non fighters into doing stupid things. Dallas has a bunch of small dudes do their fighting, Anaheim's best guys get tooled up when they fight Kings, Chicago dresses one guy (that dope Carcillo too) and Phoenix dresses one guy. In short I am not worried about anyone on our team getting ****ed with at all. Now if we had a team like Montreal full of little dudes who can be crushed in the postseason I'd be seriously worried, but we're not. We are the intimidators for once because nobody looks forward to 60 minutes of getting ran over by a team full of big dudes. Finally teams have to change the way they play because the ones in the West cannot play the way we do and beat us. Enjoy it.

:D

This team is something else. Get badly outplayed for 80 minutes out of 120 in a back to back and somehow come up with four points. Unreal.

As pleased as I am with the results and the excitement of it all, it's worrisome. Having stepped back and thought about the last handful of games, it seems this team is winning a lot of games it shouldn't and getting by off of Herculean third period efforts and the hot hand of one Jeff Carter. Perhaps the eventual rise of our uncharacteristically low save percentage will offset the eventual drop of Carter's shooting percentage and third period puck luck. shrug.

The entire third period switch flipping is something I don't think I've ever seen from any Kings team. I would like to believe it's more of a product of this team coming into their own, confidence wise, and finally understanding and owning the identity of "we're the ****ing Stanley Cup champions." It's just crazy seeing this team win games off Harlem Globetrotter offensive sequences rather than tight one goal trench wars where we all walk away thanking the hockey gods for Jon Quick.

Speaking of Quick, he needs to get a few starts in a row here if for nothing more than to build some confidence. I thought starting Bernier again tonight was a misfire on Sutter's part and I said as much before the game even started. If your goal is to key up your goalies into a faux starting job competition, you have to appear neutral in their eyes else risk damaging confidence. I felt Sutter showed his hand by starting Bernier in both games on a back to back as it could come off more as an indictment of Quick's play than a reward of Bernier's. That's the opposite of what you want happening there.

No excuses, Quick's a tough kid, yadda yadda, I agree with all of that. I just feel that Quick may be struggling mentally after back surgery and the last thing we want to do is play hardball with the confidence of a goaltender we just signed for 10 years. Call me paranoid.

Overall, this team obviously still has some kinks to iron out but I'll take Ws in whatever form they come. Muzzin breaking out is HUGE. This kid has the size to eventually take on the tough, zone clearing minutes of Mitchell, but the mobility and offensive flair to form a VERY puck possession friendly pairing with Drew.

Also, Richards and Penner are two guys that have completely turned their seasons around. Love it.

Don't look now, but Voynov is tied for 12th in points and 9th in +/- among defensemen. Two of his four goals have been game winners.

Can we also talk about the fact that Drew has 46 shots on goal and is yet to find the twine? Ouch!
