Put the C on kastelic, he’s the clear on ice leader. 63’s leadership got a coach fired.

I don't love Merk being sent down, that said McLovin has earned a callup.
I haven't seen an opportunity to chime in on Merk but I thought he was just ok. He wasn't play driving. They gave him a chance on the PP and he just kind of deferred and whiffed on his shots. It was better than last year, and if things go south I don't mind calling him up and riding it out to see if he can get to a better place, but right here, right now? They need more.

I will agree Marshmont has been off this year, not his usual self. But to think that anyone cares more or is more passionate about this team is insane.
So the answer is to fire the coach ??? I’m pretty sure Monty was passionate about his job. So pulling the C is a bridge too far for the fan boys boys here, but firing the HC was A-okay???

Kept wanting to see him do something without the puck, like a takeaway, a poke check, force a turnover. But we got nothing. Looked apprehensive and step behind the play defensively.

He'll need to be more assertive to make it as an NHL player as his skating is only average for a smaller player.

only one game and vs a team who are hardly cup contenders but it looked to me like Sacco is looking at a system where offensively, play free, less about set plays, use your instincts instead, definite improvement in the neutral zone where the B`s have been simply letting teams build speed through all season long

Agreed. If you wanna argue that at age 37, his body and his skill set has declined, I’m all ears. However, if you wanna question his leadership, then you are on your own….

To anyone who thinks Marchand isn't a leader, look at it this way.

Do you really think that after 14 or15 years working for the same group of managers, they would of known before they handed him the "C" last year whether Marchand possessed leadership qualities or not? If they questioned his leadership capabilities at all, they would of chosen someone else. They knew the player and the person extremely well and had all the info they needed to make an informed decision.

You are right he does need to be better, but I thought last night, he had a little more jump to his game. I also think, he needs some help, by that I mean someone else that can put the puck in the net, time for Donnie to make that happen.
Zacha is good to very good - Pasta hasn’t had jump that’s not on Zacha

Yes.
Good point.
Plus he carries the puck into the zone very well and he just seems to have one of those interesting shots where it appears hard to read coming off his blade.

The PP looked good. Lots of shots. More player movement aside from Pasta standing in his "spot" shooting one timers over the glass or directly at the goalie. However...a nice play with the slap pass. More of that please.

Kastelic. A Don Cherry Lunchpail guy if there every was one.
Switch out Kastelic & Bobby Miller ~ Miller works better in todays game.

Kastelic was a 70’s player

What exactly do you hope to gain and what historic examples are you going off of by ripping the C off the last guy from the cup team who is at the end of his contract and possibly career to give to a newcomer who playing well but above their head? If there is a better leader on the team they are already leading without wearing a letter that is more about communicating to officials and being a media figure of the team for promotions. It's just being a douche to a player for the sake of it.

The 4th line played with an identity again last night and is the only line IMO that gets a passing grade so far.
Maybe the other lines can learn from this?
Korpi made some nice saves and has played well and also gets a passing grade.
The rest of the team, meh.

I wasn't a fan of Merk's game while up here. He can be kinda crafty with the puck at times but he seemed a little too timid with puck battles and he wasn't getting his shot off which is his best asset.
MM has 10 points in 15 games in the AHL, I do not mind the call up.
Let him play and give him a decent look.
Lysell and Potsy much be underachieving in Providence so far?

I understand that the Bruins may feel that getting Swayman back on track is more important than earning two points in Detroit in November (hopefully they accomplish both) but Swayman's career numbers in Detroit are not good.

Meanwhile, Korpisalo career in Detroit:
5-1-0 ; 1.99 GAA ; .932 Sv%
