Yea forgot about Seto, he kind of makes up for the dumb Purcell signing. I hope he can stick with the team, always rooting for guys like that to make a comeback.

Purcell was a bad signing all around, Seto has been a decent one.

Vermette is also slow, slow. You guys want this team faster and younger, Vermette or Purcell, neither of those guys accomplish that.

Let Shore continue to play 4th line, see what he has for this season.

Shore is at 120 NHL games, it's around this many games, that you see what the player really is.

Vermette also had a goal on a great tip. Purcell is healthy scratch worthy, along with Nolan and King at this point. I know who I'd rather have. And its not really a question of hindsight since I wanted DL to pick up Vermette in the offeason anyway. The guy is still useful.

I thought the Ducks were going to be ****** this year but they've looked good. Now that Rakell and Lindholm are on board, I expect them to go far again. Getzlaf, Kesler, Rakell, and Vermette is a very solid center core.

Dude, don't be THAT guy. Vermette wasn't bought out until a month after Purcell was signed. Even if DL would have preferred him, he had no way to know he'd become available.

After tonight's win, I don't want five bucks off on pizza. I want five bucks off of Pepto.

P.S. If you're ever taking Pepto and you happen to notice that your tongue or part of your mouth has turned black, don't panic like I did and run to your dentist. That happens with Pepto sometimes. :biglaugh:

Or your um , how do i say this without getting an infraction....stuff that comes out the other end .It will be black too. Use the pills instead.

Speaking of that, can Andreoff get back soon? I'm getting tired of seeing Nolan and his parade to the box over the last 4 games. At least he didn't take another ozone penalty, although it wasn't for lack of trying.

Don't think it matters all that much. Neither player should have any sort of role come playoffs. Purcell was a gamble that didn't pay off, but Seto is looking pretty good right now for 500k. Not to go all Lombardi, but if you hit once every 3 times you're at bat you're doing really well.

Reminds me when I had to quarantine my sister because she had malaria at the same time I was redoing sprinklers and had standing pools of water in the yard. (She's fine now btw)

Did anyone notice Doughty scored on a wrist shot? So nice to see him get pucks on net instead of firing them out of the stadium. Nothing makes a goalie madder then getting beat by a weak ass wrister from the point that he didn't see.

Did Forbort just convince Doughty to take more wrist shots?

I was just happy he got it on net instead of some guys skate or leg , followed by Bob saying "Blocked"

Vermette is one dimensional as they come now. He's like that one player years ago, who I think played for the Kings at some point, was traded every year for the playoffs because he always won faceoffs. He'd win a draw and come right off the ice.

Vermette was part of the yotes organisation for ages, some of those games against them got pretty heated, perhaps he didn't want to sign for us anyway :dunno:

Doughty: The guy is amazing. Offense not so much. He seemed to figure out all it takes it to get the puck actually on net through a screen instead of blasting it over the net. So if the Kings get some garbage games at some point... qualify for the playoffs early.... would running Doughty 5-10 games at wing help him round out his offense? Don't want to transition him to forward, just wondering if cycling in the corner and attacking the net would help round out his game since he gets into those situations all the time anyways.

Hairy black tongue. I can't take it for that reason.

Great win when taking everything into account. Real solid home win the day before as well.

They are still hanging in there. I'm not sold that the Budaj train can keep rolling but if Hammond can reel off that win streak a couple of years ago on that Senators squad, I guess Budaj can win more than he loses the rest of the way.

I'm surprised at the current record and am glad that the division kind of tanked after a hot start.

I am surprised no one has proposed trading Carter because of #AssetManagement and #VegasDraft. Gotta management those assets folks.

That was coming from people who thought the Kings were a lottery team, even if the team was full health.

Carter has an excellent contract and is an excellent value - he would be one of the last persons traded for cap flexibility. If you're going to straw-man, pick a more realistic scenario...

#Passiveaggressive

When the Kings looked dead in the water and a lottery team, the Kings had some of us worried that we'd be wasting prime years of Kopitar and Doughty with Doughty a soon to be UFA. If you're going to accelerate a rebuild to not waste our two best players prime years, trading a guy like Martinez or Muzzin isn't going to get the.job done. Gotta give to get.

I was hoping they'd make the lottery because despite playing well recently they still don't have a defense for a deep playoff run. Sucks.

2 options at this point. Try to make a push in the next 2-3 years or get younger now and aim for 3-5 years out.

2-3 years you're hoping to get a push before Brown/Gaborik/Carter need to be put out to pasture. That requires the D to be ready for a deep playoff run by then. That means probably 2 of McNabb/Forbort/Gravel/LaDue playing like dominant top 4D in that time span. That's going to be tight.

The other option is to get younger now. Trade Carter and Muzzin for young players that can develop in the next couple of years, since the team has time since it's waiting on other guys to mature before the next push.

Seeing if the Kings have enough to make another push with what they have in the pipe is the easier way to go.

Getting younger might give the better chance from getting more talent and waiting for it to grow.

Tough choice either way, but Carter is able to be moved now for a good return. In a couple years when he trends down and has some years left he won't be.

Carter's take home pay.
7M this year
6.5M next year
5M 2 year
3M 3 years
2M 4 years
2M 5 years

My guess is that once his salary starts to drop in years 3-4 he'll be seriously thinking about retirement. Carter will be 32 in a couple of months. 3-4 years he'll be 35-36.

If Carter retires with about 3 years left he'll have about a $3M recapture penalty for 3 years.

So yeah.... Carter needs to be moved now for a good return or the Kings are riding the contract out to the end.

Well, how 'bout it Lombardi? Do you feel lucky? :naughty:

Carter has next year and the year after before he's seriously considering retiring.

Edit: Also everyone is focused on this expansion draft. Is there going to be another team added in the next year or 2? Will there be another expansion draft?

Sweet Christ, you are a bummer.

So next year if everything is going right they have Kempe and LaDue playing their first year so the year after they can take a shot. Past that the Kings will need a center to replace Carter.

I can't believe the word 'lottery' is even being used right now with how we're doing despite everything. Not to mention that the guys in charge would be kissing their own jobs goodbye with the metaphorical self-immolation that would be moving guys like Carter at this point. Good luck telling your AEG bosses "yeah we're in the thick of the playoff race despite missing some of our biggest guns but you know what? The #1 star of the week might start slowing down in the next couple of years so we should really start thinking about the lottery (which sucks this year) and the future, even though we have all the pieces to continue making noise."

Like, what is this even? weren't people complaining we weren't playing the youth, and now that they're in and playing well, we can't be successful with them?

The Pens would like a word with you about being unable to win with more than one rookie d-man on the roster, by the way.

Man this place might be dreary after a loss, but it is ****ing confusing after a win.

The Pens D was sheltered by their up ice pressure. In the finals every time they touched the puck the Pens were exploding up the ice and forcing the Sharks to choose between giving up breaks or backing off. Sutter won't play that style. Sutter needs a solid D he will lean on. What works for the Pens won't work for the Kings.
