Not even worried about Nolan, Purcell because they'll be blasted into orbit when we get healthy. If our major complaints are with our 13th-15th forwards after playing 8 games in 13 nights all the way across the country and back, with our third string goalie in net because one of the best centers in the league, one of the best goalies in the league, a top-six winger, and a top-4 d-man are all out of the lineup against a team that regularly has our number especially at home, WHEN we got a regulation win out of the deal (and they were gifted SEVEN PPs despite our dominance), I think we're alright.

You know with the way the Kings have played without Kopitar... maybe they should see about trading him for someone like Ryan Johansen.

When was the last time the Kings won in Anaheim?
When was that?

Actually wasn't that long ago. January 17 of last season. 3-2 win.

The amount of heart this team is showing right now is incredible. No Quick, no Kopi, no Gaborik, Doughty having a rough start to the season, and the team is still fighting hard and competing. Very impressive

They look pumped when they score and win, too. Love it. Well, maybe not Carter because he's done it so much before, but when I see goal highlights of Seto and Dowd especially, it's like a playoff goal

After that not so great road trip, and going by the at least be close by Thanksgiving, the Kings have won 3 games in a row in regulation, including 2 in the division, in what was probably make or break time.

Now they have 3 games in the next week and a half. All 3 at home. 2 of them against the Hawks and Sharks. Then another division game in Arizona.

Could be good rest, could break some momentum they have. We'll know in a week and a half.

I think they need the rest regardless of how these last few games have been going. Their play at this pace isn't sustainable; they were uuuuugly in the third. Playing Wednesday-Sunday-Wednesday means we'll probably see some sloppiness seep back in but I also think the time off will be good.

Nolan/King/Purcell all look expendable and could probably be replaced by youth from Ontario. Nice to see these guys winning despite all of the injuries, they're showing a lot of battle and staying in the playoff race.

We should have signed Vermette instead of Purcell, I don't know what DL was thinking there.

He probably thought he could fill the 'creative scoring top-6/9' winger void rather than the 'defensive specialist' lack of void.

Vermette is 363rd of 400 forwards with more than 50 minutes in CF% relative to team; the only Duck worse is Boll. Even on Arizona only worse forwards were Richardson and Chipchura. And don't give me the deployment thing because Kesler has tougher zone starts. And ask Chicago what they thought of him when the brought him in.

He's certainly better than Purcell, but it's very easy to see what DL was thinking, he just clearly misjudged what Purcell could bring offensively at this point. The question is if you would want Jarret Stoll back because that's Vermette. Grass is always greener though. Though if Vermette WAS our 4C instead of Shore...

Not to mention the NMC that Vermette got from Anaheim. Kings weren't going to give him that. Nor should they.

Proving my point, Purcell has been ****ing abysmal. At least with Vermette there would've been a chance for him to move up with Kopi's injury and add some depth (as well as face off wins). Advanced stats don't tell the complete story, they're relied on too heavily. Vermette is better than Stoll, as he's still in the league and contributing.

Was he credited with a hit there? Because he deserved it. Dustin Brown is such a good hitter he doesn't even have to make contact.

He heard footsteps

No, there really wasn't, that's my point; if you need a scoring winger, you don't sign Vermette. He's been a failure in that role everywhere, including Chicago. I'm not saying he sucks because his corsi sucks because he obviously plays a role, I'm just pointing out his offensive contributions weren't enough for us to sign him, lest we get yet another depth player who can't score on his own...can you imagine this place if instead of going out and trying to get a top-six winger, we got a bottom-six defensive center??

All you're saying is hindsight is 20-20 and you can't see what DL was thinking. I think it's very clear what he was thinking, he was just obviously wrong about what Purcell could bring us.

After tonight's win, I don't want five bucks off on pizza. I want five bucks off of Pepto.

P.S. If you're ever taking Pepto and you happen to notice that your tongue or part of your mouth has turned black, don't panic like I did and run to your dentist. That happens with Pepto sometimes. :biglaugh:

I can't believe you'd rather have Purcell over Vermette, at the very least he's a faceoff beast. That's still a useful trait, and its unfair to compare him to Stoll, he's not nearly as bad. Stoll is about to take a coaching job with us, while Vermette is still scoring in the league. You said it, he'd probably be an upgrade over Shore. It would have been a Matt Cullen like signing. I was adamant we sign Vermette or Gagner for center depth in the offseason.

I would've rather seen DL sign Brandon Pirri, whose a better goal scorer than Purcell or Vermette.

When did I say that?

Literally all I've said is it's very easy to see why DL went with Purcell over Vermette, and that hindsight is 20-20 and the grass is always greener--everyone is going googoo over AV just because of his faceoff performance tonight and because Purcell has been our worst forward.

The active ingredient in Pepto-Bismol contains bismuth. When a small amount of bismuth combines with trace amounts of sulfur in your saliva and gastrointestinal tract, a black-colored substance (bismuth sulfide) is formed and caused a black stain. This discoloration is temporary and harmless.

Thanks for the heads up. Now to load up on Sulfur rich foods and freak people out.

Vermette also had a goal on a great tip. Purcell is healthy scratch worthy, along with Nolan and King at this point. I know who I'd rather have. And its not really a question of hindsight since I wanted DL to pick up Vermette in the offeason anyway. The guy is still useful.

I thought the Ducks were going to be ****** this year but they've looked good. Now that Rakell and Lindholm are on board, I expect them to go far again. Getzlaf, Kesler, Rakell, and Vermette is a very solid center core.

Hint: that's not the only thing that turns black...

Hey, don't get me wrong, if I had to choose between the two at this point Purcell would already be locked in my trunk. And I'd use Trevor Lewis as his cement shoes.

That center core for the Ducks means they can pretty much always have a dominant faceoff center out there.

Yet I'm still encouraged very much by our performance tonight given our situations.

Don't think it matters all that much. Neither player should have any sort of role come playoffs. Purcell was a gamble that didn't pay off, but Seto is looking pretty good right now for 500k. Not to go all Lombardi, but if you hit once every 3 times you're at bat you're doing really well.

Haha. Right? I can't google anything medical because next thing you know I've got cancer, AIDS and ebola all combined.

Reminds me when I had to quarantine my sister because she had malaria at the same time I was redoing sprinklers and had standing pools of water in the yard. (She's fine now btw)

Did anyone notice Doughty scored on a wrist shot? So nice to see him get pucks on net instead of firing them out of the stadium. Nothing makes a goalie madder then getting beat by a weak ass wrister from the point that he didn't see.

Did Forbort just convince Doughty to take more wrist shots?
