I think it would be surprising if they could get back the same value that they gave up to get him. Like you said, he turns 32, and he's still got a cap hit of $5m for 5 years after this season. How many contenders can absorb that?

He would still fetch a 1st round pick, but I mean, it won't be from a bottom team.

A fringe team looking for that 2nd line center depth would spring for him.

But it would be a middle of the road 1st rounder most likely.

I think the Kings could get a lesser player(s) making similar money and a very nice prospect or two for Carter and someone else.

Carter is going to be 34-35 by the time the Kings are going to be back to a playoff team.
