I believe they were checking to see if Brunner pulled the puck back any, I think it has to be going forward at all times...and Bob still almost got it. He really was the only reason they were even in it in the third period and aside from playing the 3rd goal too aggressively, he played an awesome game.

Having said that, Mason should start the next game, don't want to burn Bob out just yet, leave that for the April playoff push

I have a hard time believing Letestu or Gillies is any worse than Umberger. He was a pylon out there. Not impressed w/ Aucoin either. Brassard was pretty invisible as well. W

Rest of the team at least was visible. Would like to see Moore get more PT. Ah well, can't win them all.

We played better in the 3rd period, but still not a good game. Umberger has been really bad, IMO. Tons of TO's and no offense. Johansen and Atkinson have been our best forwards.

RyJo is not allowed on a SO ever again

It was a subtle, well-placed shot. Same kind Zherdev used to score on. You don't have to look like you did a lot on an attempt for it to have been a good one.

Definitively loved how Columbus played today. No quit from the guys, they battled hard throughout the game even if the play was occasionally sloppy. Too bad about the shootout; I think the call on Cam was fair. The puck ever so slightly bounced off Howard's pads so that would be a shot, even if Cam did everything in one deke.

With that said, the Jackets seem to get hosed an abnormal amount of times.

Red Wings fan coming in peace. Good game, guys. I just want to say that the reason the SO goal was disallowed was because Howard stopped the puck and the puck went backwards before the shooter touched it again. It was a good call.

What they are saying is that deke where he whiffed was a "shot," and the actual tapin/wrister was therefore the second shot.

And that is garbage. He mis-handled the puck and it got ahead of him. He did attempt to tap it a second time across the line but he missed, never touched the puck.

We got hosed out of a point.

Even if it was a shot, how do they prove it? It was called a goal on the ice, so there must be proof to overturn it. You can't prove it was a shot without Atkinson telling them it was one.

He never touched it again. He tried to, and I thought he did in real time and after the first replay. Slow mo replay shows that he tried to poke it home before it crossed the line but whiffed.

To overturn the call on the ice in addition to simply missing it makes it sting twice as hard.

I don't know the rule (if it is the body, puck, or both that have to keep going forward), but it shouldn't have counted if that is the rule, IMO. It sure looked like he pulled the puck back.

Sucks that we lost; I really wanted this one. :(

But look on the bright side? Columbus earned a point tonight. It could have been worse, and do you think they really earned a W tonight? Either way we get a point and go up one spot in the standings. Not too bad. Time to focus on the next game! Oh and revenge on the Wings. ;)

The puck touched his pad and then he tapped it in.

You can't do that. Come on guys, it's not that hard to understand.

What if you make no move and the goalie comes out and touches it and then you shoot it in? That still doesn't count? Even if you never made a move at all? That is a dumb rule if that is the case.

The puck doesn't activate until the shooter touches the puck. The skater cannot stop with the puck. So unless the person is literally skating at a snails pace, that's a pretty unrealistic situation.

The way I look at it is this: If it touches the pads and stops/comes back towards the skater, you don't get a second effort. Or else guys would "deke" into the goalie all the time and do this.

The refs got it right... my complaint is why can't they ever get it wrong against the CBJ... ;)

I know. I was just trying to find a way to say the rule is stupid. So, why did Detroit's goal count then? He brought the puck backwards.
