Second time in 2 weeks we have had 8 dropped on us. Obviously the biggest issue is our injuries devastating our top 6 and top 4. That being said I think the biggest disappointment has been the revamped bottom six. We are getting very little from the patchwork. Guys like Texier, Saad, Faksa and Toropchenko have been incredibly disappointing. Your not getting big minutes so when your on the ice you need to make an impact and feels like they are going through the motions most nights.

Our best healthy players effort wise have been Buch, Kyrou, Holloway, Parayko and Faulk IMO. Everyone else needs to show something and yes that includes Schenn and Neighbours, way too inconsistent effort from those two.

Actual NHL coaches dont let teams get blown out 8-1 in multiple games, especially in a short time span.

I'd like that a lot. But his coaching wouldn't bring many more wins.

The Caps just scored again. But we can't blame this on Bannister. It's amazing that this roster has been playing close to .500 all season so far.
Agreed. This is not an indictment on Bannister. Just the reality that he’s mostly likely passing through town.

the Blues quit on the ice tonight

I don't get it, Kyrou has made that egregious turnover leading to a goal plenty of times before and they didn't quit

why did they quit tonight?

Doug Armstrong built this

I understand part of the GM job is to show optimism to the fanbase but lets be real no educated Blues fan thought they were going true competitors this year. Just look at this board, even the most optimistic fans were saying we were a wildcard team at best.

This team is in a rebuild, the management just refuses to say it. The next window opens with Dvorsky, Lindstein, Jiricek, Stenberg, Snuggerud ect ect ect... start to find their footing in the NHL. Obviously not all will hit but that next wave is where our window of success is. Obviously the Holloway/Broberg signings were moves to bolster that, everything else is just patchwork/hoping maybe we find a diamond in the rough.

they quit on the ice

that is a different level of disease

don't sugarcoat what this was. they quit on the ice and the coach left Binnington in for that

I could not be less impressed with Bannister he is such an unimportant temporary employee

I don't see Leddy being moved. But, I do wonder if outside of Faksa and Suter if Joseph & Joseph and Saad could be moved at the Trade Deadline. I could See Saad being moved to a playoff team if he can be around 20 goals around the deadline.

If Kyrou gets traded (I highly doubt he does) it won't be until the Draft when teams have the cap space to do a trade like that. Right now he's trying to force things way too damn hard and too often to compensate for Thomas being out. He needs to stop and just play.

I see no reason (at least for myself) to be upset after loosing a game when we are missing out 1C, 1LD, 2LD, and other depth pieces. We were barely a Wild Card team at the beginning of the season and we started losing players to injury IMMEDIATLY after the season started. Tex, Leddy, M. Joseph were out the first 2 weeks then Thomas and Bro got long term injuries. A Wild Card team losing their best players is almost always going to cause a team to fall.

Ride out this season, ignore the standings, and hope that players like Neighbours and Bolduc start gettings results and watch the draft board.

I don't disagree at all. I have been openly saying that I didn't like the Bannister signing and I do believe their is a leadership issue in the room. The question is do we tread more water and blame it only on injuries or does the shoe drop early? Coaching change? Stripped captaincy? Obviously something is very wrong.

Doug Armstrong also got us a Cup with 'what he built'. Let's not forget that.

This team is the result of that build. We're in transition between then and when our window opens up again, and it will.

As for the team quitting? They players are understandably frustrated; This roster is poorly constructed with a lot of holes and it's crystal clear that we're in Build Mode. We're going to see more nights like this and we'll also win games along the way too, never to tank all the way but never to make the playoffs. That's how this season will be and maybe even the one after this one.

This is the price we pay for winning the Cup, and I am absolutely fine with that.

On one hand, this is a team in the midst of a rebuild with injuries to several key players. On the other hand, this team has a tendency to fall behind early in games and sometimes get blown out. Given where this team is at, Army has to evaluate what is best for Bolduc now. Should he continue playing 12 minutes in the NHL or would he benefit more from playing 18+ in the AHL? That's a valid question. The good news is: expectations weren't very high this season. I'm fine with a top 10-15 pick. When Snuggerud, Dvorsky, and Bolduc are ready, then we'll talk.

aww shucks guys, dont worry it wont happen for a third time. this guy is a lousy as shit captain, not even close to being in the league of a Backes. You never even see him doing shit around the city like Backes and Creampuff did.
It doesn’t make a single difference who the captain of this team is. They looked even worse under O’Reilly. People were saying Petro was a bad captain in 2018 before they went on the Cup run.

It doesn’t matter. The team just isn’t good, that’s it.

I had the Caps feed for the third and they talked about how it felt like a scrimmage and that it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Both of these observations came was when it was 5-1

Army expects them to compete for the playoffs, yet most of us see the roster for what it is.

It’s the biggest reason why I felt they should have traded Buchnevich.

Ugh dammit we hung with the Caps in the first two periods and played well, then got slaughtered in the third. Powerplay looked better at least.

Had a lot of great chances couldn’t bury ‘em.

Nice to see Perunovich FINALLY get that first goal and play well tonight. This a player I was excited to see develop when he first started playing with the Blues initially. Missing two years in a row with injury lost a lot of development but I think he could still be a good NHL defenseman, still young.

I think he expected a roster WITH Thomas, Leddy, Broberg and,M. Josephh to compete. I personally didn't think that was enough. Without injuries, maybe they had a shot. But nobody, not even Army expected us to win with those losses. Y'all being silly.

Of course we got our asses kicked. Our goalies need to stand on their head for us to win. If they are going to turn into a pumpkin, we are going to get smoked. We have Zero top 6 Cs and ,we have 2 top 4 D and the corpse of a 3rd.

Schenn being named C signaled that there was a lack of good options in the room other than Thomas -- who should have gotten it. There is clearly a lack of leadership on this roster.

I feel like Armstrong has been rewarding some flawed players with contracts and roles they dont deserve and that radiates through the locker room and creates an identity that is not condusive to winning. On top of that there doesnt seem to be more than one or two players actually performing to the standard most would agree is their career norm or even near it for a lot of them.
