I think he expected a roster WITH Thomas, Leddy, Broberg and,M. Josephh to compete. I personally didn't think that was enough. Without injuries, maybe they had a shot. But nobody, not even Army expected us to win with those losses. Y'all being silly.

Of course we got our asses kicked. Our goalies need to stand on their head for us to win. If they are going to turn into a pumpkin, we are going to get smoked. We have Zero top 6 Cs and ,we have 2 top 4 D and the corpse of a 3rd.

They’re not a playoff team with a healthy roster.

I’m fine with that as long as management recognizes it. Beating a round object into a square hole, and getting the 14th or 15th overall pick doesn’t help.

We won't know if we were or weren't. But before Thomas's injury we were in the hunt at least and we even stayed 500 until we lost Broberg as well. I agree with you that it was not the right decision to try to be competitive. I wanted to sell off and tank last year, and this year. But that wasn't the path they chose. Saying "Hah, I told you so" now with all our injuries just seems pointless and disingenuous.

Suter has been really bad.

Since Leddy went out prior to this game he was averaging 24 minutes, mainly tough defensive minutes and was a +7 over 10 games. He is 39 years old. He was bad this game but you can't expect grandpa to keep that up for a long stretch.

People don;t realize how bad our D is right now. Joseph is our #4 and Pittsburgh didn't want him at 825k. They were like, nah, don't want him for that. Suter is 39 and is being paid by 2 other teams who were like, nah, I don't want you here, I'll pay you to not be here. That is our #2 and #1 LD. And people are shocked when they play poorly?

I mean, we're currently like 2 points out of a playoff spot. I think it's reasonable to believe that we're a playoff team if mostly healthy.

This team is a f***ing disgrace. Doug Armstrong needs to be fired.

Thanks for the laugh. There's always gotta be one comment like this.

Schenn being named C signaled that there was a lack of good options in the room other than Thomas -- who should have gotten it. There is clearly a lack of leadership on this roster.

I feel like Armstrong has been rewarding some flawed players with contracts and roles they dont deserve and that radiates through the locker room and creates an identity that is not condusive to winning. On top of that there doesnt seem to be more than one or two players actually performing to the standard most would agree is their career norm or even near it for a lot of them.

Tell me more about the locker room. How often are you in there?

I wasn’t as active in the summer on here but I feel like I saw mostly people saying things like if all breaks well we could squeak in or be a bubble team.

Which is 100% true. Like half the teams in the league are bubble teams. Lots of hot takes after a horrible loss. Very predictable.

The injuries hurt a lot. A team with Kyrou as the best player isn't anywhere near playoff caliber but I bet most teams would struggle without their 1C and best player. Would be nice to see more from Buch. He hasn't impressed me all season and it can't all be blamed on playing center. He needs to do more.

literally a majority of the board said they thought this was a playoff team
Going off the "How does the 2024-2025 Season Send for the St. Louis Blues?" thread 74.6% of the board voted either Miss Barely or Make the playoffs and lose 1st round. with most of the comments talking about us being a Wild Card team.

So far we do have a winner in that thread Tho. (drumroll)
I’m expecting an injury riddled debacle.
Congrats @Stupendous Yappi

Many people said they were a playoff/wildcard team.

Many people also said Kyrou was similar to Pat Kane and that contract was great, which you can still see to this day on the first few pages of the Kyrou contract thread.

Without the Thomas and Broberg injuries I could see us being a playoff team rather easily. Broberg was getting better every game but I will admit that our 2C hole is a gaping hole that rivals goatse.

Yes, I don't think there are many teams that can afford to lose a player less than us and Thomas. Just a devastating injury. Not only our best player but at our weakest position. And a position that's arguably the most important one.

We're gonna have to take our licks until he gets back but it's not like we were gonna be contenders this year regardless. Gotta be patient until Dvorsky and the young guys get here.

Not often but I have common sense unlike some. When they bypassed Thomas and handed the C to Schenn it was obvious they were having issues finding out who to give it to and felt either some werent ready or not C material. They clearly forced it because they didnt want to go into the season without a C. I think it shows a lack of leadership. They also let two Captains walk who were key parts of their Cup win.

Most of us were happy with just A's going into the season to see who might have grabbed the role.

All A’s would have been a much wiser route.

I like how Doug's bff immediately told you this was correct. LOL

people may have spoken their caveats but the fact is people were asked, all things considered including injuries where does this team finish and factually a majority of the board voted for this team is 8th best in the west or better

At least @sbet1998 is thinking and not wondering whether turds really stink. I'd rather have some thinking, some hypothesizing than waiting at a closed door for answers that won't come. Even if he is incorrect, I'd rather someone use their brain and hypothesize and speculate than asking, Were you actually in the toilet when he pooped? Are you sure it stinks?

The Perunovich Parallax.

The evil Dr. Perunovich pays a hefty sum to players and officials, so that his sire can score his first NHL goal. The conspiracy deepens. News at 6.

A bad game is a 4-1 loss.

We've had two 8-1 losses.

This team sucks. They are not a tough group. They are fragile.

End of story.

Yea I thought he was going to pull him after the 6th, then I couldn't believe he didn't pull him after the 7th, and then when he gave up the 8th I was like, are we about to see a Patrick Roy moment?

Good on Binner for keeping his head.
Binnington doesn't wear a letter but is a clear leader on the team and we saw an example of it the other night. In a game where the team clearly quit, a very rare and different kind of loss than a normal bad loss, the coach showed up the one leader who clearly doesn't quit. That itself is the coach quitting. I have a real problem with Drew Bannister in that game

End of story.

The St. Louis Blues fold and cease operations 15 games into their 58th season in the NHL.

News at 6.
Hold on there. I never said to close up shop. I didn't even say to tank the season for a better draft pick. I just said they suck in late 2024. The data points to this.

Maybe they can turn it around. Time will tell.

End of story.

Drama at 6.
