Wow. Didn't expect that. Knew something had to give when we were playing 5 d-men vs. arguably the hottest team in the league

Poor Quickie losing the shutout again. What a beast though.

Lock. Martinez. Up. Forever.

The wrecking crew strikes again...

One thing this game did not do is make wish for Regher to come back. I am not his biggest supporter and today's game did not change my mind.

On one hand, he sure wouldn't have fit in on all the puck moving.

On another, the Canucks are probably the most finesse-reliant team around and his beef wasn't needed (and was actually good for him to be gone tonight). Most nights it's nice to have a guy like that to shove around horses like Benn and Perry. Whether that's Regehr in particular long-term or not I don't care, but I can't imagine a Martinez-Voynov pairing getting stuck out there vs. Perry-Getzlaf or something.

But I could be wrong. If Martinez is doing the muzzin development--getting big minutes and learning--we could be having a good problem by the end of the year.

Saw a couple posts while surfing the Canucks GDT. Vey coming up as a candidate to take a seat. Wasn't he the hero of the pre-season for Canucks fans?

I am taking credit for this win. I had 3 tortas and a chocodile pregame

Without checking the GDT or this thread, or even watching the replay on TV, my impression is VAN quit playing for much of that third period, with only the PP reviving them.

They were just skating the period out, IMO. Anyone else get that impression?

Oh BTW, two Canucks fans in front of me and one a couple of seats down, very quiet tonight.

They also didn't appreciate my opinion that VAN quit in the game, but I think they thought the same thing.

Your analysis was spot on Ron. The Canucks lack the Eye of The Tiger. Adversity scares them instead of inspiring them.

I wonder if that was their coaches call, easing up for a game tomorrow. Vrbatta and miller got shelved for the third didn't they?, not exactly inspiring a comeback

I agree that the Canucks quit. I actually thought they packed it up after TT's goal. The Kings came out with fire in their eyes and the Nucks tried to hang in but once the mountain became too steep they stopped playing.

The 5 D thing is probably good for now in the short term, but the minutes is gonna be a killer if this continues. The increased minutes for our more mobile defensemen had a positive effect for our offensive flow. We didn't have our plodders out there short circuiting our O. This in turn made it possible for us to spend so little time in our zone.

Is it a bad thing when your coach say's, "This trip was to show us where we're at and it showed us where we're at and right now we're not good enough."?

If they were really smart they wouldn't even show up.

They were on the bus to Anaheim by the end of the first.

Yeah I think they mentioned Vrbata going down the tunnel at one point. I don't think I've ever seen them just literally tell a player to leave mid-game. But makes sense if it's 3 in 4 nights in the California gauntlet especially in a game where the Kings weren't backing off at all.

Again, though, really nice to see us raise our game for a good team and step on the throat when it mattered.

Was sort of hoping for another moral victory game though. I bet Nolan was, too. He got one shift tonight I think, when Toffoli was in the box.
