2025 NHL Draft Thread

Are we to the point where its

Schaefer
Misa
Martone
Hagens
Schaefer is clear #1 with a gap and then Misa clear #2. I am less passionate on either Martone or Hagens at #3 at this point. Hagens was really good at the WJC and Martone not so much. Hagens is a size and shape we have stacked up quite a few similar forwards already and Martone is a flavor we are lacking in that department.

If Misa continues to play really well I think it's going to end up being a 1A vs 1B situation given Schaefer isn't playing.

I mean hell, the Sharks desperately need a franchise 1D type and even they want Misa over Schaefer these days. I would say it's probably pretty even between the two already, personally.

I haven't read anything where the Sharks have expressed a preference. Maybe Sharks fans have, but that's hardly evidence of what the GM and scouts are thinking.

I'm starting to get this odd feeling in the pit of my stomach that Buffalo is going to end up with #1. If they do, doubt they take Schaefer.

Hawks need to make the pick. They should only trade it if something really good popped up.
Wondering what type of deal that people would consider? If we're @ #2, and Shaefer went as #1, what would the deal have to be to consider trading the pick? IMO, the only thing that would make sense for the Hawks would be a blue-chip forward prospect that might be a little closer to contributing (Demidov from MON as an example - not saying that MON would make that offer). If you look over the last number of years - those type of moves are really rare and typically have some other issue in the background (Drysdale for Gauthier as an example).

Celebrini Cooley Carlsson Sanderson Faber Johnston Suzuki Stutzle Fantilli Michkov? Demidov? Guenther? Leonard?

I dont think you can gamble on Misa for anything less.

Obviously guys like Makar Hughes Mackinnon McDavid etc..

Pretty much like you said, it'd have to be a blue chip forward prospect coming back. I'm not sure why any other team would do that though.

Yes, figured the fans part was implied as we're all just making educated guesses based on needs and personal preferences when it comes to this stuff.

My main point was I don't think there is this massive gap between Schaefer and Misa as this board seems to think.

Someone with a lot of team control. Basically, it'd be unlikely a trade would be made. Probably someone that wanted out for whatever reason. I basically agree with BHawk's list.

Definitely we be open to dealing it for a young known quantity, but KD better take full advantage of the other team!!!!!
