But you know best, right? It's just me whos off his rocker....

I never said your were off you're rocker and don't/won't take personal shots, don't know why you're saying something like that when we're just having a debate/discussion.Instead of listening to anecdotes from Mike Johnson something purely qualitative, I'd rather look at the stats.

When Brady fights, we are 8-24-2 all time. He's had 17 fights when we're tied or winning (7-8-2 record). He's had 17 fights when we're losing (1-16-0).

There is no tangible evidence that suggests Brady fighting helps us win games, in fact there's more evidence to suggest that it doesn't help us win. I would rather Brady focus on winning via scoring goals, something he's very good at, instead of dropping the gloves.

Can't remember exactly if it was after the interview or during it where it was suggested if they would get an even bigger impact from the group if it was someone else (they mentioned Batherson as an example) that stepped in to defend a team mate...

So for sure there is an appreciation from team mates but there is a price on this team taking Brady out .. In the game vs the Sabres it cost a goal on the PK and then when the Sens got a PP while brady was in da box their PP personnel changed on both units and they were out of synch... now granted it could have been just one of those nights for them getting going.

Personally I am all for responding to a dirty hit or a cheap shot but I have never been a fan of fighting in response to a clean hit.. that seemed less common back a few years but its very common now.

I will say that I have less of an issue with Brady responding to a hit early in the game than him showing he has the fight in him at the end of the game when the game is already decided against us.

Those stats don't really show anything other than he tends to get in more fights when we're already losing.

if Brady fights, so does a player on the other team, so so both teams would get the "fighting" boost. The real question is about differentiating between what happens after a situation that might prompt a fight (hard hit on star player for example) if he doesn't fight vs if he does. You also have zero control for the expected record, whether he fights or not. Does not standing up for your teammate result in more loses than the control? Does standing up improve results from the control? Does standing up for teammates have a lasting effect that goes beyond the game, does it create a team bonding situation?

Coach and an explayer say it's positive and would want him to do it again, I'm inclined to go with their opinion on the subject

I have an issue with forcing a guy to fight after a clean hit, but Brady gave the invitation and Greenway accepted (dropped the gloves first), he didn't jump him. The penalty was BS imo, at least based on past precedent, though I'd be fine if that becomes the new precedent so long as the apply it consistently.

As for the goal, it was a bit of a bad bounce, but the PK needs to kill that off for Brady who stood up for a teammate,

Normally, a five min fight means Brady misses what, 2 shifts? I don't think it's that big of a deal unless you get the 10 min misconduct or in this case the BS penalty.
