I am still at a loss as to what is going on with his back?
Vilardi is probably also at a loss as to what is going on with his back.I am still at a loss as to what is going on with his back?
The issue has never been publically disclosed, there has only been speculation.
Keep MacDermid up and literally go sign 2 AHL vet goons. 2 guys who's only job is to protect him all game long.He could quite possibly be the most valuable piece at turning things around with the franchise. Have to pray to the hockey gods that he doesn't have any issues or setbacks. Send MacDermid down and instruct him to kill anyone that touches him!

Allison and Deadmarsh were “back” a few times before retiring too. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice ... wo won’t get fooled again.Son of a *****. Not only is he back before Christmas, he is back before Thanksgiving, Remember Remember the 5th of November, and Halloween
Meet the new Vilardi same as the old BarneyAllison and Deadmarsh were “back” a few times before retiring too. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice ... wo won’t get fooled again.
And stranger yet, Bob McKenzie said last year that Vilardi DID have back surgery....and never heard or saw that anywhere else. Maybe Gabe did and it was a minor procedure of some kind? I don't think McKenzie says that, without some knowledge. He's never made any wild speculations...and is in the know with contacts all around the league.
I just hope he's healthy and is at the cusp of embarking on an amazing and healthy career.
Can you imagine if he's back to where he was before the injury and is playing in top
form within 3 or 4 months?
Vilardi, Turcotte, Kupari, Kaliyev, Anderson-Dolan, Thomas, Fagemo. Geez oh man.
Steve - got my fingers crossed that your theory is correct!
We discussed this a while back and it fits very well. This news doesn’t add weight to the theory but if true it would mean the risk of the injury reoccurring is very low. In fact it would mean things like groin and hamstring injuries are more likely to occur. However, if he’s had a good off ice program it should mitigate that.Steve - got my fingers crossed that your theory is correct!
while this is welcome news, a part of me wants him to take as much time off to rest and properly heal. i'm hoping he's not jumping in too soon.

Given how long he’s been out I pray, and expect, that they have been cautious and have not rushed him in any way. Great news though, really great. Mostly I’m pleased for the lad as he’s been through so much.
