I've re-watched this like 10 x in the past day...

If this kid is this good with a broken back - I'm tinkled pink what a healthy and re-invigorated Vilardi can do.

And he did that coming off 6 months of not playing AND that was his first game in the pros.

He looked totally effortless and the Mayor is saying he looks less labored now? Good lord.

I would think that Team Vilardi Doctors and Trainers have taken him beyond the risks of muscle imbalances in the 10 months since he was shutdown. I do believe that his last shutdown was a muscle imbalance related to spondylolysis and a rapid growth spurt. I am hopeful that he is fully recovered now.
Completely agree and my expectations are the same as yours. I guess my point is that IF it was spondylolysis and it is completely healed then it won’t be reoccurring as it doesn’t do so. Thus muscle imbalances present the risk going forward. I’d agree that they’d manage that carefully but it’s impossible to mitigate the risk completely once he places things under full load.

Thats exactly what he's done.. The Kings have been extremely cautious with Vilardi because he is a franchise type talent... Month(s) of pratice and hopefully half a season and playoffs in Ontario would be the cherry on top... This is the type of news we've needed, he can help speed up the rebuild if he truly has recovered..

Not a bad list, its looking like a few of these guys are going to hit big
Pretty impressive list but aren't you a little premature on having Drysdale in the LA system...Wishing for him and Byfield in LA... now that would be a killer 2020 draft!

Wait, and? As in, both of them? How do we make that happen! Byfield is a top three pick, Drysdale top ten.

Correction, in 2 years Kopitar will be in his "ON" cycle so he'll likely be either our 1C or 2C at worse

No. An already slow Kopitar will be 34 going on 35 and will be our 3rd line center. He may be the best 3C in the league, but he'll still be a 3C. BOOK IT!!!

I note some posters almost seem to begrudge that their ‘factual’ statements about Vilardi being done may not be true.

Before anyone says ‘well he’s not played an NHL game yet’, yes we know. But he clearly isn’t done either.

It's so f***ing odd how every single time that Vilardi's name is mentioned on here the same posters have to let us all know that they think he will never play again. Shit, I remember this offseason the common refrain was that he will never skate again and would you look at that, he is skating again. It's like some people are just desperate to be negative.

I can imagine quite a few scenarios where the Kings secure a top 10 pic along with their own say numero 2-3...Quick,Martinez,Forbort,Clifford,Lewis,Carter,Kovalchuk,Brown! Any and all traded/given away would benefit the Kings down the road(future)!

Players that won't be traded for a first round pick:
  • Quick
  • Forbort
  • Clifford
  • Lewis
  • Carter
  • Kovalchuk

  • Brown
I doubt Martinez nets us a top ten pick, but maybe!

LA needs him to be impactful honestly. Jury is still out at this point.

Do they/we lose rep[ points or something? Will they/we still be allowed to be non professional scouts? Will they be banned from their ball hockey leagues in Pacoima?

What about a package deal involving Quick,Martinez and Clifford...can see the Kings cutting Carter and Kovalchuk loose if they don't bounce back...Brown should just retire and let the promising kids the Kings have play alongside Kopitar it would rejuvenate his game!

No team finishing out of the playoffs will trade their first round pick for anyone the Kings have, or anyone any other team is willing to trade.

Maybe yes, maybe no...But a bubble team trying to make the playoffs or stay in the race might be willing to trade a 1st for Toffoli or Kovy (with retention) [depending how the play up until the deadline] for an added boost. That team could fail to make the playoffs in the month after the TDL, which could give the Kings an additional chance for a Chicago-style jump up.

Take a team like Montreal or the Islanders that could be in a wildcard spot or just outside and want some Top6 winger help for the playoffs and trade their 1st for Toffoli because he's scored 25 goals so far @ the TDL. Then Toffoli has one of those famous scoring slumps he's know to have and the team fails to make the playoffs. Boom. Top 15 pick for LA. It could happen, you just don't know and can't depend on it to happen.

This season will be a wait and see season.

Wait and see if...the vets can turn their game around.
Wait and see if...the prospects can step in and play at the NHL level.
Wait and see if...Vilardi can stay healthy.
Wait and see if...Turcotte leaves Wisconsin.
Wait and see if...we can dump some vets at the TDL.
Wait and see if...the PP will ever get going.

Just wait and see ;)
