what happened to the avs. they look like a team without an identity. all they seem to be capable of is cycling the puck along the perimeter. they need another lehkonen or two desperately.
they should split up mack and necas for a game.

If Bednar gets fired it won't be until the offseason. Are there any good replacements out there anyway(outside coach Q?)?

The amazing thing is they made the trade for him after watching Ryjo fail miserably. He’s got the same speed issues yet they still decided to make the move. If they can’t find a taker for him then we aren’t going anywhere for at the length of his contract. Maybe they get Kucky and Richie is a solid enough contributor in two years but in all likelihood they are done competing for a cup w Mitts at 2C

I wish one of the Avs media would actually start pressing about the PP and why it's so f***ing terrible with the likes of MacKinnon, Makar, Rantanen, Drouin, Lehkonen, and Nečas on it. Why they don’t do anything different. Why they don’t move and shoot the puck.

The coaches saw how good the PP looked against the Rangers with all that movement and then came together and were like, "no, don't do that anymore"
Pratt's system seems to work when we have enough horses like LoC, Lehky and Nuke PKing.
But I agree with everything else. I'm also gonna bitch about how Bednar has run his practices this year. Not working on the PP when it's struggling is something he never did in the past. Unless everyone has a secret injury, there's no reason to be taking so many days off. He complains about guys not having their legs, but it's definitely not from overuse, unless it's the top line and Makar.

At this point I think you just go all in and go for EP40. I still think they shot the bed not going big for Eichel, this is another shot at a player of that caliber
Not necessarily. He very well could, but I would venture to guess he wasn’t really suited for Rod system.

Look, I know the team is going through a slump, and things don't look so hot. Mikko is gone, Blackwood seems to be regressing, Nuke has had a major set back, Landeskog's return is ever up in the air, the coach doesn't seem to have any answers, our defensive and offensive depth are struggling.
You can blame all the individual players you lot want with Mitts, Manson, Girard, Blackwood, Georgiev, etc.
The problem is that you ain't going far in the playoffs, let alone winning a Cup with an overall team defence this atrocious. The amount of attention to detail in the defensive zone has simply gone out the window and as @SoundwaveIsCharisma mentioned, the amount of high-risk, low-reward plays everyone is doing is causing havoc in terms of keeping the puck in our zone or causing unnecessary turnovers.
Avs also struggles mightily when a team establishes a cycle game. One of those Islander goals today was from a ten-second cycle that got Avs players running around and an easy tap-in from the back of the net. It could be a systems issue, a personnel issue, or a combination of both. The lack of attention to detail is definitely a coaching staff problem, but getting wrecked by the cycle game is a personnel issue when Malinski, Girard, Manson, and insert #6 here get running around due to lack of size and IQ. What has made matters worse is that Makar has regressed big time defensively this season. Not sure if the analytics back that up, but through the eye test he has been a mess as I posted earlier today. Toews has been worse from 2022 as well, but his play defensively has been very much acceptable compared to everyone else.

I usually defend Bednar, and still not ready to say fire him until the roster is finalized. If we upgrade the defense, get Val back and we still continue to be on this win one lose one pace, then I’d say bring in a new coaching staff for sure because there would be nothing else to change

Kinda surprised that Luke hasnt been an Av yet. He be perfect bottom pairing guy imo and I dont think he would break the bank.
