Wild on the road against the Oilers? Surprisingly good record so far. Ya, let's check that out.

Thoroughly impressed. Team play, puck support, crisp passing. They never gave up on a play.

Was that a typical game for this season?

Hynes has been fired twice, both times to the delight of the fans, but that Wild team I watched tonight is clearly well coached. Comments on Hynes performance thus far? He's got to be an Adams contender at this point.

Faber’s emergence last season coincided with Spurgeon being out for the whole year and obscured the fact that when healthy, this blueline is capable of great things. Having Brodin-Spurgeon & Middleton-Faber on the ice for 75% of the game is a huge advantage.

I like Hynes. He’s steady and seems to know how to get the right line combinations. Not as stubborn as Evason was.

Typical Wild game against the Oilers. We just own them for whatever reason.

In all seriousness though, they’ve been a very defensively sound team the entire season. Fleury was in tonight, but Gus has been a wall for us in net for most games this year.

Kaprizov carried a lot of the early season offense & has been a beast the entire season. We’ve also got great top 6 talents in Ek/Boldy/Rossi & Zucc was solid before he busted a nut.

Our depth scoring has started to pick it up too after being mostly nonexistent for the first half of the season.

Thanks, guys.

It's quite impressive that a team without any "big stars", apart from the obvious exception of Kaprizov, and to a lesser extent Boldy, is excelling 1/4 of the way through the season.

I'll be watching a lot more.

Wondering about Rossi - didn't get all that much ice time, but looked dangerous every time he was out there. Why isn't he on PP1? Is Hynes bringing him along (too) slowly?

And congrats on beating the Oilers. Always a fun result.

Rossi has been a hot topic on the board and other sites as well. Nobody really knows why he is scrutinized the way he is. He seems to bounce around the lineup a lot which is both a testament to his flexibility as him getting into Hynes' doghouse a little bit. He is not really given big offensive or defensive roles if it isn't absolutely necessary at the moment.

Could also be that the long term vision they have for the team is not a fit for him or some other issues we do not know about. He always comes up in trade talks even by the beat writers and people around the team. It is what it is. The team is winning and the coach is right.

Good road win for the Wild who shook off that early goal like it was nothing. Really bad look for MAF but I play goalie and I can tell you that is just really really unlucky. A bouncing puck like that? Happens once in a million. Sure he could have had his pad down as a safety but still. Just very unlucky. Very good for MAFs confidence that he got the win and still played an overall pretty good game.

It is also great to see that Freddy G seems to have a bounce back year. It starts to be more than a fluke now, he plays consistently good hockey. Just goes to show what confidence does to pro athletes. Also everyone else chipping in even when the top line is realtively quiet.

Good game, not perfect but it seems right now nothing can phaze this team. On to the next!

And to say something good about Hynes: that the team is oozing confidence right now is also a testament to the coaching staff under his leadership. I would even go as far as to say that is one of the main jobs of a coach. If you manage to get your team to believe what you are saying and buy into your idea you are halfway to a winning franchise. Keeping it up for an extended period of time is the tricky part but Hynes has been here for a while now so he is doing a pretty good job.
