Great kid with great leadership abilities and strong mental but limited talent. He played on a strong Mooseheads squad in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014, that probably helped his stats. Despite a disappointing season in 2014-2015, he played well in the playoffs.

Not the first Canadian WJC goalie that didn't pan out and not the last.

He peaked at 16 and just never really progressed. I had a pretty good feeling that he was going to struggle once turning pro.
He does struggle in the pros, but he has similar numbers to Lindgren and McNiven in the AHL so not all is lost yet. He's in the ECHL to get many starts and does AHL starts once in a while.

The Sad thing is he is the only player as of March 5th 2018, from the WJC 2015 canada team, to Not play an NHL game, since Dillon Harrington and Joe Hicketts played their first games this year. Fucale will get a start at some point if the Niemi injury is serious.

remember at the time, everyone was saying save percentage doesn't matter it was all about the winz!, when describing Fucale

Wasnt visentin a similar situation?

Didn't he win a Spengler cup or WC for Canada a couple years ago? Seeing what he's accomplished in his young life and being up with the Canadiens now I'm thinking life is good for Zach right now. Bust or not a lot of people would like to walk in his shoes

How would a change of scenery help in this case? I can't imagine teams in need of a starter or back-up would just give that job to Fucale. He'd be going from one farm system to another rather than getting NHL minutes.

He's still only 22, so by no means is he a write off. His ceiling is just nowhere near where it was thought to be...that could still swing back around though.

This will sound dumb, but here goes...given his style of play and how he tracks things, I would suggest that he would be better at a higher level (with some adjustment time, of course) where the game is more predictable.

I will say, I never quite figured out what his sweet spot was for puck volume...I can't tell if he likes a lot of work or if he loses concentration when he goes seven minutes without seeing a shot...hopefully I'll get a chance to see him play in the show...

Always thought he was extremely overrated especially on the statistical side.

He looks small in net, and his mental game reminds me a bit of Fleury.

He's a talented kid, but I was never really sold on him as an NHLer.
