Well because one guy skipped the Olympics 20 years ago to make sure he didn't injure himself further and derail his season/career... and then didn't make the playoffs...

This means Hughes should risk aggravating his injury further and play in the 4 Nations tournament because clearly the Canucks aren't making the playoffs this season and Hughes could potentially miss out on winning the 4 Nations.
