Do his terrible numbers to start the ECHL season change anyone's mind about his potential at the NHL level? I have seen a lot of lists that had him as one of the best goalies prospects. Some had him #1. Really bad GAA and Save %.

Still too early. Lots of junior goalies struggle making the transition to the pros before getting their game together.

Goalies development is different from other players development. Some hit big sooner than others, some take more time. I would not be worried about Parsons. We won't know for a few more seasons. But I like him.

This.

Look at Alex Nedeljkovic, a similarly hyped goaltending prospect who had similar accolades to Parsons in the OHL. He was flat out awful in his first pro season, splitting time between the AHL and ECHL.

Now he's undefeated so far in the AHL in his second season and is re-establishing himself as one of the better goaltending prospects around.

Ditto for Thatcher Demko.

Not every goaltending prospect can be Matt Murray, who just comes in and dominates the pro level from the get go.

The 2nd pro season is really the true litmus test for a goalie prospect. You can kind of write off much of the first season if there are struggles adjusting to pro hockey but you need to see the progression. So no his first month of pro hockey definitely shouldn't be changing opinions on him.

Lol he's 6 games into his pro career. Overall, he's been decent. He just had 2 brutal games that destroyed his numbers.

Absolutely nothing to be worried about at the moment.

That's more like it. Guy has all the tools to become a starting goaltender and has won everywhere he goes. Hopefully he gets AHL starts this season though or at minimum, a full AHL season next year.

Ended up with a 902SV% in the echl and an 856SV% in the AHL. Those stockton numbers are pretty bad, but what about the echl numbers? I know it was his first year and from what I've heard, the league is generally less known for its defense.

He started really poorly in the ECHL but finished strong. That (combined with Rittich's callup) got him the promotion to the AHL where he had a decent game or two but wasn't great. And then he got injured.

This will be a big year for him. I would guess he'll begin the year in the AHL, although there's no guarantee.
