He said it was "high tempo" and got a "good response". There was only 2 goalies practicing today. Him and Kenneth Sorli Eriksen. For those who dont know Eriksen was the third goalie at last years Worlds behind Volden and Soberg.

By the way, what's happen with Soberg? Is he still alive?

This summer the Norwegian U-18 team had a camp in Hamar. This is for players born in 94 and 95. Narmo is a 94, they had 8 goalies there but Narmo was not invited. The only reason that he was with the Under-20 now is because he was available and the camp was held in his teams rink. Kind of like when an NHL club signs a third-string university goalie for a 1-day contract because they only have 1 available guy. Like San Jose did in Vancouver last year.

And Narmo being better than Sørlie Eriksen is just dumb. If Narmo had even an inch of potential he would not be playing in the U-19 league as a 94. This is a really really poor league because of the fact that all of the good 94/95 players are playing in the 1.div senior league.

If Narmo gets drafted to the NHL i will walk from Oslo to the city of the team that drafts him.

You seem like a bit of a Narmo hater to me.

The reason he didnt go to the U18 camp was because he was on tryouts with clubs like AIK Skelleftea in Sweden and such so he wasnt able to attend. Also it was just a sign up, anyone could have went to the camp.

Have you even see Narmo play? For the second day in a row at the U20 practice, the players and coaches were talking about how much better Narmo is then Sorlie Eriksen.

Get ready to go on that walk :sarcasm:

Here are some pics of Narmo from the U20 practices today:

Very erratic for his size. Usually larger goaltenders will stray from the hybrid, or unorthodox and stick with positioning. He also goes down far too quick.

He should try heading over here to SM-Liiga or to Elitserien to play against better opponents/to get high end goaltending coaching. TPS would be an ideal team.

These pictures sure don't make him look good. At top, his butterfly is way too compressed. It hardly covers the bottom of the net. At bottom, well I would guess he's about 5'11" from that picture. Way too deep.

barely two pages in and the armchair experts come in criticizing a U20 goaltender's technique who hasn't even been drafted yet.

im sure every game we've played as goaltenders was completely and technically flawless, oh wait, those are pictures taken during a damn practice. god you guys are insufferable.

+1

I would sure like to see Haseks, Timmys, Rinnes, Quicks or who ever, pictures when they were as young as this gigantic Norwegian, the two first mentioned still do not have technique of any kind but their own. Two pictures and one video and suddenly this youngster is lost cause.

Some people...

EDIT: Ps. Antti Niemi was a part time Zamboni driver just 6 years ago...

In the second picture, he's clearly going down into his butterfly because of the shot that's half way to the net.

He could easily be moving out as he's going down into the butterfly too.

Scouting a goalie based on a picture is beyond ridiculous lol.

Tampa's goaltending depth isn't that great. Expect them to pick a more sure fire goalie early(2nd-3rd round) and a boom/bust/project later. Narmo may be the later pick if he's still on the board and shows progression throughout the year.

If Narmo can get on scouts radars by draft time then he will for sure be a late round pick.

It's all about him getting noticed in that small Norwegian league.

He is alive. He hasn`t played a game in a long time because of a disput with his former junior club in Canada. He is of course frustrated, but hopefully things will resolve soon as he says.He practises with Manglerud in Oslo, but that`s about it.Belive his brother is doing fine in sweden:)

Even with Rinne locked up and other good goaltending prospects, I could see Nashville drafting a kid like this. Even if you have your #1 goaltender it doesn't hurt to have other quality goalies. You never know when other teams are going to be scrambling for a goaltender, then you can cash in with a trade later on.

Have him get ahold of Mark Carlson with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the USHL. He is the Head Coach/GM of the team. CR is very good at developing young goalies. Alex Stalock, Richard Bachman, and Bobby Goepfert are three goalies Carlson has had in the Club's 12 year existance that has played games in the NHL. Cedar Rapids also runs the first USHL camp of the summer!

Update on the Soberg situation.

After he decided to return to Europe instead of playing in the CHL, he got tangled in some mess about his CHL team allowing him to play elsewhere (not sure on specifics). He was cleared to play finally, and returned to Manglerud. He's appeared in four games so far this season, but hasn't put up great numbers. But for not playing hockey for so long and playing in a men's league at age 18, it's not the end of the world.

Would love to see him come to the USHL just to get on the radar more.

I think it would be interesting for him to come over. I don't know wheres he playing now, is the USHL a significantly better league than where he is now? Also, slightly off topic, but does anyone know how to get onto the USHL website? I've been trying for like 2 months now and it just doesn't load.

Narmo's team (VÃ¥lerenga) won the U19 norwegian championships.

He might play in sweden or finland next year, depending on if he gets drafted this june.

New video of him playing coming shortly hopefully

Cheers!

Moving to Finland seems like the best move career wise for any european goalie. Depends somewhat on the team tho, needs to be one with good goalie coaching strategy.

Looks like a massive project, if he got drafted he will need alot of years learning technical skills even though he from what this thread has said, playing better. Would the NCAA work for him?
