From what I can tell he's played in 3 preseason games so far, pitched a shutout in a 9-0 win, then a 3-1 win against Karpat and a 7-1 win against Modo, but I can't find shot totals for those games. But uhhh 2 goals in 3 games is pretty solid.
He's a good goalie. Simple as that.

I wish my team had Judd Brackett
Oh God, the amount of credit he's given is hilarious. This was not some stealth out-of-the-box pick, it was a situation in which other GMs shit the bed, especially Kenny. I suppose Rossi was another example of his prowess as well?

Reaping from the mistakes of other GMs makes you a bad head scout how exactly? Because I didn't see anyone else make those picks. Brackett did.

Khusnutdinov, O'Rourke, and Peart were great picks too.

You could also argue that Hunt was a nice find. Bottom line is that Brackett was laser focussed on Wallstedt once it became clear that he was falling on the board, and moved up to get him. No one else did.

Sounds like they could have played with an orange cone in net in two of those games.

The Modo game Modo was the better team through the first, then Luleå completed shut them down and scored all those goals.

Also: the 3-1 against Kärpät was tied until like minute 56 with an ENG scored shortly afterwards, to give some perspective on that score.

But it's pre-season, so not much to take from the games tbh.

I read about a new shoutout today away against Karpat.

With Lassinantti gone for a few weeks due to a knee surgery, Wallstedt is starting in Luleå's season premiere today, and unless something drastic happens should start pretty much every game until Lassi is back.

He’s better than Lassi anyways

I like Cossa....but I think Detroit would have been better taking this guy, IMO he is a future superstar in nets
I hope we're not going to hear stuff like this anytime either prospect does something bad/good. As of right now Cossa has had a stellar start in juniors, Wallstedt has been just okay in SHL (with a really good game yesterday). So difficult to compare, different leagues, different continents.

I'm sure my bias is showing, but I would think that a "just okay" (if you believe a 1.80 GAA and .919 sv% is "just ok") start in a league the calibre of the SHL is more impressive than a stellar start in a under-20 league. But you are right, its difficult to compare these two because they are in different leagues and its too early to determine who the better prospect is.

CSKA MoskWTF?
Can anyone (perhaps especially Swedish posters) comment on how Wallstedt is viewed as being personality-wise? Introvert vs extrovert? Cool guy vs home-cooking?

Sorry if you think its an unnecessary question. Thanks for any input.

Very hard to compare across 2 different leagues like that but I'm not sure .919 is more impressive than a .953 regardless of league strength. I wouldnt be surprised if save percentage on average is higher in the SHL than in the WHL to be honest. These guys are going to get compared at every step of the way though so we might as well get used to it for at least like 5 years, if not more lol

What even is the point you're trying to bring up here? What if it would be a little higher?

I think he’s just saying defense is often so bad In juniors with kids where as the SHL can often be a very slow sheltered game. Like the competition may be higher but the style of play is vastly different.
