Gotta admit it'd be pretty cool if they ended up battling it out for the top goalie in the KHL, then come over to the NHL and battle it out in NY ;)

Hopefully both develop well and come over.

It's kinda like Toronto and Buffalo with Matthews vs. Eichel, and William vs. Alexander

While it is true that I hardly watch khl games (so i do only stat-watch), I also think it is fair to point out that a 2nd string goalie is not in the same league as the Vezina equivalent. Shestyorkin is performing well, but Sorokin is far more established as of now.

Maybe however consider Shesty put up record #s leading the league as a junior in the VHL, which is also unprecedented. Its hard to imagine any goalie going in there doing a better job than Shesty because he just wasnt letting anything by him, his GAA was scarcely above 1 lol. Just because there was minimal KHL for him because he was buried on the richest team in the league who likes to carry 3 starters at any given time doesnt mean he wasnt reeking havoc where he was given the opportunity.

So the issue was posters were not comparing apples to apples.

Pretty damn impressive. Between him and Sorokin the nets in NY might be manned for
Many years by these Russian studs.

Good God. Nice to have a prospect like this in the fold, huh Rangers fans?

I feel like if I get too excited about him, he'll get traded.

But seriously, really exciting to see him playing so well. He's at the top of what's become a really nice stable of goalie prospects for us.

Koskinen has started (and won) the last three SKA games. Not sure when Shesty gets the next game. When Costco loses?

Hard to tell.

They treated him unfairly last season as well. Don't know why they went back to doing that.

Maybe its because Koskinen finally won a game? Maybe they just planned to play him until Koskinen started playing well? That reasoning is flawed though, considering I think Shestyorkin is proving himself to be better than Koskinen who couldn't hack it in the NHL.

When Koskinen gives a reason to bench him, so far he doesn't - 63 out of 65 shots, coaches aren't enemies to themselves to bench him with this kind of performance.

What reason did Shestyorkin give the coach to bench him? Was probably the most dominate goalie in the KHL over the last month.

He played 5 games in a row, obviously a bit too much for a young goalie, so he was given a rest.

You might be right.

I did read the coach was trying to rest some players before the break.

Lets wait and see if Shestyorkin still has this same role with the team after the break.
