G Dustin Wolf (2019, 214th, CGY)

Wonder if the flames try to trade this guy. No point in letting him be the goalie for the next 8 years of suck

How come the Flames have not called him up once?
why would they call him up with the season the AHL club is having...let the guy stay there and have a chance at winning it all...this is your future, have him come in with the winning attitude. Wolf is one of the best goaltending prospects outside the NHL and will be with the Flames next year, no sense rushing him to the next level with a year he is having like this it was not going to make a difference for the Flames this year.

The best thing right now, is just to let him play in the AHL and bring him up with Mitch Love as the new head coach next year.

There is not point in calling/bringing him up at this point. The team is a mess, next year, get him to backup Markstrom, with Mitch Love(Darryl Sutter most likely wants to back on the farm) as the new head coach and a re-tooled roster.

Do you really need explanation on why bad teams shouldn't trade away top prospects?
When your best prospect is a goaltender and your going to suck for the foreseeable future why not trade him to get a strong asset that aligns with that?

Think there would be teams willing to pay top dollar for an NHL ready top prospect.

Alternatively I guess you can keep him and let him grow into the goalie of the future/ goalie of that suck period. Seems kinda pointless though

I hear ya, but who is going to trade us a better prospect than Dustin Wolf for Dustin Wolf?

Teams trade top prospects for top prospects when? Never. So you trade a top prospect in wolf for something that can be a top prospect? Seems like a great idea....m

Pretty sure he was called up and was the backup for a California road trip at one point. I was hoping they'd give him the start in LA (his home town) but nope.

As for trading him, goalies just don't have value. Nobody is going to offer anything that would help Calgary anywhere near as much as Wolf (hopefully) will.

Ok let's recap. Calgary's goalies have combined for a .893 save percentage this year. Which is why they should trade Dustin Wolf because something-something I have brain rot

If Calgary received .910 goaltending this year instead of the .889 team save percentage they had and nothing else changes, they allow 45 less goals over the year and their goal differential would be +53. But keep going off on things you don’t know about.

Also you believe bad teams should trade away successful prospects? The kid is probably still in his prime 8 years from now, most teams maybe have 2-3 players still on their team from 8 seasons ago.

I think it will be detrimental to his development if he goes back to AHL next season.

He needs to learn what it is like to face NHL shooters. Even if that means getting lit up. He will learn more from those experiences than another dominating year in AHL.
