First off, I wouldn't care if they just cancelled the all-star game. f*** the all-star game. The all-star game sucks.

Second . . . f*** players that only want to go to sunny cities for it. Its not like they have to shovel their bus out of the snow. They only have to go outside for 10 minutes total the entire time they're there. Walking to and from busses to the arena, hotel and airport.

lol at the responses from people ITT that likely were very unhappy having to go back into the office after working from home. God forbid NHL players want their little vacation break to actually feel like a vacation.
Agreed.

I never really understand the thinking of "because they're paid a lot of money they don't get to have human needs and feelings."

It's not like they're going on strike about it. Being named an All Star is supposed to be an honor but what it really means is you have to go work at the dog and pony show. In a long grind of a season I can understand at least wanting to travel somewhere warm and hang out with your family.

Pick any career that hosts conferences in some city. Then look at the attendance levels for the ones in places like Hawaii, Vegas, Miami versus ones in Kansas City, or Madison, etc. (to be clear I'm not bashing those cities, but they sure ain't Hawaii).

Just give the players an option to opt out of the all star game if they are selected or just pull their name from voting completely at the beginning of the season. I don’t blame them. I’d rather take the family down to Florida then go to Toronto or Detroit etc. all star game is trash anyway.

After watching this years skills competition I don’t blame them for not want to play the skills competition / all star game let alone going somewhere cold.

I ask myself the same thing when they hand their gloves to the trainers to put them on the glove-warming machine during games.
There are still some who keep it real.

Just get rid of it. These guys clearly hate it and always need conditions with it that they sound like drama queens. All star weekend is post to be for the fans and not what city The players wanna spend the weekend to get shit faced and get a tan.

Unless you’ve given up and want to live a mediocre existence, we all have desires, preferences, and opinions on how to live more comfortably.

It’s has always been like this for the players, but without constant coverage, social media, etc, you just didn’t hear about it as much or at all.

Here’s the personality you’ve been all been begging for. Shocker, they’re normal humans.

The soft ones are the ones hopping on here to comment despite likely never being among the best in anything.
its a weekend for crying out loud. fans in northern markets fund the sport. their spending lets these players live the life they are living. they should be able to watch the best of the best live on occasion.

It was -51 here two days ago and now we're back in our "Warmer" stretch where it's -35.

Wouldn't change a thing. Awesome snowmobiling, arguably the best fishing on the planet. That said, winter time you need to break it up, and I know that it will involve 20+ degrees and a beach.
The only thing I can think of that would make fishing an even better activity than it already is would be losing my fingers to the cold while I do it

We recently had the All-Star Game in the very warm city of San Jose. Erik Karlsson still pulled his groin in that game so I dunno if the temperature makes a difference really.
