Ya, looks kinda pettyHilarious how Dubas' team drops this news right before the Leafs introduce Treliving.

Because Shannahan is actually qualified to work in hockey ops. Dubas is not.
Dubas looks like a real weasel doing this right before the Toronto announcement imo kind of petty

Ya then Niemela took a step back the next year.
Self admitted lol, you’re going to have to provide that link.
When do you change your avatar to Florida again, like you did a few weeks ago.? Tomorrow , ahead of game 1.
I just don’t understand why Leafs fans keep spamming this everywhere. The Leafs chose to not bring him back. You don’t get to break up with someone and then dictate their love life afterwards. It's still a bit slimy on his part. Claim 'Toronto or no where' to appeal to the fans, players, and ownership, before asking for more money and doing the exact opposite of what he said days prior.
Pitsburgh, what is you doing baby? Dumb move.
Leafs fans will say otherwise but Dubas did an admirable job in Toronto. He surrounded the core with some really good depth. The reality is it's the core for the Leafs that are the big problem. Simple as that. I think he will do a great job in Pittsburgh.Agreed 100%
I think he’s going to do a fantastic job in Pittsburgh
Leafs downgraded gms as well. Not big difference. Two losers together
I think he wants a buffer that being a Gm .It could be worse, they could've made Dubas their GM?
Very curious to see if he takes the lessons learned from Toronto and does better in Pittsburgh, but I still don't see him as someone who is ready or able to make difficult decisions.
Absolutely, it's why I like Dubas in this role better than the role of GM. Now the question is, can he step back and let his GM make tough decisions?I think he wants a buffer that being a Gm .
Like Shanahan has .
He really can't make tough decisions.
As a I slander fan, I love this move. Lock Crosby and Malkin up for 8 years each at 15 mil per season!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Treliving may not be an ace, but he has shown that he is not unwilling to make the tough decisions that Dubas could never make.
How did those tough decisions work out?
To be honest, I'm not sure many GMs would've ended up coming out that much better being dealt the same cards as Treliving was.
By all reports Dubas' hands were tied in TOR hence the fallout, hence taking the President position in PIT.Treliving may not be an ace, but he has shown that he is not unwilling to make the tough decisions that Dubas could never make.

And who signed every last member of the core to a terrible contract?Leafs fans will say otherwise but Dubas did an admirable job in Toronto. He surrounded the core with some really good depth. Even if the trade was good for the hand he was dealt, the signings are terrible.
The trade seems to be bad too.
The 3 year deal he gave Tkachuk to lead up to it was bad.
Letting Gaudreau walk was bad too.
Lots of GMs have been forced to let players walk. That's what UFA means.
The bridge deal only looks bad in hindsight. The flipside can be bad too - like practically every non-bridge contract Dubas gave out in Toronto.
They were bad moves. They happened. No need to deflect.
I didn't say they were good moves. You seem to have missed the point. I said I am not sure many GMs would've been able to do much better.
Clearly you and anyone else with the benefit of hindsight could've done much better.
