The contracts being thrown around so far are a complete joke, and make the lockout look even more useless.

Contracts like the ones Clarkson and Clowe got is one of the reasons the owners locked out the players in the first place, and now after all that we're seeing these ludicrous contracts being dished out?

The NHL is a complete joke sometimes. Can't wait for the next lockout.

Seriously, Ryder only got 2 years/3.5 mil?? I would given that deal to a great goal scorer like him. Devils made up for the Clowe signing with this deal somewhat.

What about Gagner as a rw and petry for DZ and Pyatt. A deal like that anyway for top 6 Rd

The Blues don't need DZ. They have Bouwmeester,Jackman and Leopold on the left. Petro,Shattenkirk and Polak on the right. They moved Russell for a pick. Cole is their 7th. Cole is a lefty shot.

Yea looked at capgeek and realized that so thinking Edmonton now lol

Jagr, Boyes, Antro, Prospal, Derek Roy, Morrow, Raymond, Douglas Murray, Kuba, Scratchan, Kostka, Blum, etc. still all left

http://capgeek.com/ufa-finder/

I'd still like to add Raymond if possible or one of the DMen as depth. That will only come with a trade or two, shedding some contracts. The scary part is a lot of these guys may not even get contracts with how far down the cap went and the ludicrous commitments handed out yesterday.

If Antro or Murray are unsigned, I'd give them an invite to camp.

hahhaha people think nash is over paid!! the only one who prob got a fair contract yesterday are weiss and horton (yrs are long) but money is imo lower then i thought he was going to get...Columbus is going to be a good team! its kinda scary they are along with det are in the east!!

I'd actually like to see a quiet offseason for once so they can go into 2013-14 without all these Stanley Cup expectations and whatnot. With the dearth of forwards they have competing for spots, let's just have AV gauge what he has in training camp/preseason and go from there.

exactly and you know we'll try and make moves at the deadline, and 2014 FA class i ideal to go after!!

stasny or ROR will be traded for sure..

Pavelski, Kessel, Phaneof and way more to go after..

CBJ has a lot of good pieces but who is going to play center for all these guys? Prospal might not go back (wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Vancouver).

Arty, Letetsu, Dubi, Johansen? Not good enough to compete for the Cup.

Every game will be billed as a "classic something or other" in order to generate the revenue these teams need for the cap ceiling. I think the Pens hired Greenspan as an advisor. The cap will hit 72 and then the bubble will burst.

Admitedly, havent done research but seeing the price Ryan got how about Wheeler or some guy like that. What does DZ/pyatt / st croix and a 3rd buy us for a top 6 LW and RHD who is steady and can eat 12-15 min and push Stralsy? Who are potential partners, EDM, CAR?

Yep, I mentioned this a few pages ago. The whole CBA is a joke. The cap did NOTHING to prevent salaries from becoming inflated. It did NOTHING to promote parity around the league. Look at the last 4-5 Stanley Cup champs and look at who the last 4 teams in this year's playoffs. Same teams. What a joke.

Teams are allowed to spend their money anyway they like. The NHL CBA can't prevent teams from making stupid signings.

Another Lawton tweet. I guess bb could be Boyle. From: @brianlawton9

There is lot of good value players left key to sign the right 1's. Also a lot of exposed value players on existing rosters for trade like bb

well if Boyle is viewed as a C then Moore makes him move able and I would think the Rangers are after a top 6 winger.

Maybe they can package a few Forwards for a scoring option

Only in Rangerland does the signing of a player who has not dressed for an NHL game in over a year make Boyle expendable. Yea, that doesn't Have the potential to backfire.

i think Rangers are hoping that Oscar Lindberg makes the team because he would have made Boyle expendable..

I don't understand two things.

(1) Why everyone hates Boyle (other than his misuse by Tortorella). He's a dependable, bottom 6 center with size and defensive awareness at a $1.7 million cap hit.

(2) Why anyone thinks Boyle will net us such a huge return. I saw on the main boards fans were rejecting a Boyle for McBain deal. What do you guys think we are going to get for Boyle?

Personally, chemistry is extremely important, and Boyle is good for chemistry. Just keep him in his role and don't maneuver him throughout the lineup, no reason to move him around.

That being said, I would deal him if someone offered something ridiculous.

You're making Boyle sound better than he is. Boyle has had 1 good year in his 4 years as a Ranger.

Don't let logic get in the way of a good scapegoat.

Well before his year off he had 7 NHL seasons of pretty consistent hockey. I doubt that one year off is going to completely throw him, just as long as he is in shape and ready to go.
