I saw an article on TSN about how much offense happens when a player is on the ice vs. how much they play D and it supported what people have said about AA either scoring goals or doing nothing else.

That's some alarming data and I'm big on following facts. We only see him on his best behavior when he's playing the Rangers. This team does not need a competent version of Rico Fata.

Rico Fata was super fast but he didn't have all that much mobility for his speed. Athanasiou is a much better skater than Fata because he does but generally he always seemed to save his best games for the Rangers--why I don't know. He's a one trick pony pretty much. His overall game leaves a bit to be desired.

I hope we make a move for a C or at least see Strome here for another year. There is no way we go in with Chytil as #2 unless they feel like he's ready...

I hope this Pietrangelo signing happens soon so we see what happens with TDA. Will he stay or will he go? Wouldn't we all hate for him to end up on the Flyers?

Johnson even at 50% isn't worth it for us. I'd rather keep Strome at 1 year than him at half price for 4 years.

Detroit will circle back and get him at a reduced price. Maybe Ottawa. Of he doesn't waive for them, they'll have to deal other pieces.

Finally nobody is bailing out these teams with bad cap situations. Arizona has to make moves. At some point, if nobody waives, they'll have to deal a Chychrun or Keller. They might not want to, but to field an actual team they will. Kind of surprised nobody has taken Hossa off their hands yet, especially Ottawa.

I am very worried now. I just heard from a great source that the league has clearly indicated it will not restart if there are no fans in the stands. NHLPA seems to agree with this as well. This is not good news. At all. But logical

I made a joke about this immediately post lottery. Of course the Rangers finally gain access to a likely superstar player in the draft during a global pandemic. There’s a non zero chance that we’re still a year (or more) away from hockey being played.

Fortunately we are rebuilding at the right time. Would really stink to have a great team and not be able to see them in person or have the full experience of real crowds while watching on TV.

I feel like Jack Johnson as a one year stop-gap at 3LD and Strome as a one year stop-gap at 2C is fine. They are not contending for the Cup next season anyway. $9M in buyout penalties come off the books for the 2021-22 season. Get the guys you actually want next offseason, plus you have another 12 months to see where Miller/Robertson/Jones and Chytil are developmentally.

Agreed. However I'm also not convinced the team we start the season with will be the same one that finishes it. It's all about patience though, so if the right deals aren't available JG will wait until they are.

Playing Jack Johnson regularly is a good way to make sure they are not contending for the cup.

Rangers made an offer for Wennberg. Wasn’t higher than Florida’s.

Suspect a similar deal is on the table for Granlund.

ADA obviously unlikely to go to Calgary now, but a deal with them isn’t dead.

Keep an eye on LA and St. Louis when it comes to ADA discussions.

No interest in Johnson at this time.

I don't think it's the kind of guy we're after, but I wouldn't hate Athanasiou. Obviously his game has big problems, and I don't know how much a guy who just...skates fast, really contributes to team speed as a whole, but I do think this group is a little slow. I guess he would want a way to just show up on the team that's playing against the Rangers 82 games a season
