context.

he wasnt a 1st pair guy in st lou and he was a 3rd pair guy in wash.

hes gonna get roasted along side 27. playing a ton of matchup and having to play against bigger forwards doesnt play to his strength.

for 6.5 x 7 thats gonna be tiresome.

So was Yandle here..

Just because Washington wasted him doesn't mean he was a 3rd pair guy in Washington. Washington did the same thing we did because the Rangers like Washington "already had a good D" and didn't want to change it.

the problem with the rumored shattenkirk deals is the length and the back end years. the salary for the next few years (especially with the cap space we have) is fine. and rumor is we are offering 4 years so we aren't giving him the back end years that would be the problem

obviously the rumors could be wrong and obviously JG could panic today and give him those extra years but i'm not sure why people are freaking out when all indication is that there are 2 possible outcomes 1)he signs somewhere else or 2)he comes here on a majorly discounted deal compared to what nj is offering

New Jersey isn't going anywhere anytime soon---unless a bunch of their kids pan out. They just don't have nearly enough quality players right now and if Shattenkirk signs with them--the likelihood is he'll be in a kind of hockey hell even if he's maxing out on the $'s. If I were him I wouldn't sign there--I could see Buffalo but not New Jersey.

If Shattenkirk wants the money and to compete, Buffalo at this moment would probably be the best team for him, unless Tor has the cap for him? I don't know that they do. Edmonton surely wont anymore

I tell ya, if Radulov wasn't looking for such crazy money I'd be interested in him, possession beast and consistently good for 50+ points, could be more if he were on a better team than MTL last season (they didn't score goals).
