I'm glad Francis has stayed out of this mess. Some of these deals are just , but then the other part of me wishes we would sign a top player. We have all this cap and still need to reach the floor. Francis has to do something other than sign Rask and I'd prefer we get another defenseman. Guess he'll just wait for these teams to sign outrageous contracts and need to shed cap.

It will be interesting to see if Eric Staal & Zach Parise get to play together. I remember I wanted that to happen so badly in the summer of 2012.

Hurricanes fans from the end of draft to 12:30 on July 1st - DO SOMETHING
Hurricanes fans from 12:31 to 3:05 - At least do something small?
3:05-forever - free agency sucks

Chris Stewart to Minnesota now too... man that's going to be one slow ****ing team next year.

I'm the other way around, just sitting here eating popcorn watching the chaos as GMs make huge mistake after huge mistake.

Minnesota also signs Chris Stewart. So in a game that's becoming more and more about the speed of the players, the Wild have decided to go the opposite route.

The Hurricanes analytics guy basically wrote the book (well article) about how scoring rates decrease with age. It shouldn't surprise anyone RF isn't signing scorers to long term high money deals.

I'm still in for Mikkel Boedker, think he could be a nice piece to the puzzle.

Sorry to be rude, but have you been paying attention the last 35 minutes? Boedker will not be cheap. He will get paid by someone.

Also, Boedker is *not* a RF/BP player. No chance he signs here.

Not sure he would have taken it, but I wish we had Okposo for slightly more than he signed for. Not like the cap is going to be an issue for us in the next 7 years....mostly because we are so cheap.

In the next 7 years they will have to pay all the young guys that currently make next to nothing....

None of the Canes potential high-dollar players will reach UFA or require massive contracts for another 5 or so years. Right now is actually the perfect time to bring on a big contract while they are all cheap.

Arizona and New Jersey both still out there, presumably making high-end offers to every good forward left because they each have like 8 signed forwards right now.

it also can't be ignored that some of these veterans, Liles for example, that they know the expansion draft is coming as well as anyone. they might not be interested in signing for 2 years and being exposed for an expansion draft with a new team.
