Term being handed out is insane. I guess they just figure they can dump the last two years on cap floor teams?

Can we try to remember this feeling when we start the "maybe [top 10 UFA] will see our rebuild and take less," or "maybe we can get [top 10 UFA] on a short-term deal if we throw enough money at them?"

Brower to Calgary for four years at $4.5 aav.

No UFA is ever reasonable

I'm still in for Mikkel Boedker, think he could be a nice piece to the puzzle.

Canes are clearly a non-factor in UFA. Francis will come out at 3 PM, announce a Victor Rask re-signing, and say they are excited for next year. I don't think the lack of any reports about the Canes were due to Francis keeping a tight lid on things, there just wasn't any buzz to generate. Pretty much anyone who could have made a significant difference is gone.

Any hope of bettering the team at this point is through trades.

That's a sweet deal for Eric in a see of nonsense. Will be interesting to see how that pans out.

I mean, don't get me wrong. That's a fantastic deal, even if Staal is his usual useless self, especially considering the other deals today.

But come on...
