No, you're missing the point. You said it's essential to winning a Cup and I'm pointing out the Rangers had it in 2015-16. I never said it "automatically equals winning the Stanley Cup" , or that you said that, or anything remotely close to that.

I think you misinterpreted what I said, and we are getting into semantics here, anyway.

I'm merely pointing out that there's a clear formula of the winners. Not all teams that have the formula end up being winners, but there's a pattern there.

Are we sure Buchnevich and Pionk are arbitration eligible? They're not listed that way on Cap Friendly and neither is Deangelo.

Buchnevich and Pionk are salary arbitration eligible. Buchnevich signed his ELC at 21. It’s 3 pro years. He needs 1 more year. Pionk signed at 22. It’s 2 pro years. He needs 1 more pro year. This year is that one more year for both players. ADA signed his ELC at 18. He needs 4 pro seasons. Two more for him. If you click on each player’s page on Capfriendly,it’s all right there.

Pionk is probably a third pairing righty D that can play up a bit when needed on a good team. I like him he's a total steal but I don't think we should go nuts over his upside.
Eh, I don't think putting his upside at good second pairing guy is too nuts. We are talking about upside after all. Nuts would be saying he's a first pairing player imo.

We don't know what Pionk is. He's not even played 30 NHL games. He's been in the organization for a year. He's been much better than expected so far, so its hard to know whether he'll continue to do that.

We know what he is-an NHL player. Now how good and effective he becomes,is anyones guess.

What he has done is quite impressive. After his sophomore year turning pro, and making the NHL after just a few months adjusting to pro-hockey in the AHL. I know people don't think this matters, but the fact that he did it as an undrafted player speaks volumes to me. That means that he had an even bigger leap in development.

I agree. I was reacting to the people that are putting ceilings on his game when we've barely seen him play in the NHL and what we've seen is different from what was expected. The guy was undrafted and if he even played 100 NHL games he would've likely accomplished more than the consensus expectation. He'll do that by the end of next season, so I think we should realize that we have all underestimated Pionk to some respect, and we shouldn't be acting like we have any clue what his ceiling is. His floor is an NHL player. Its too early to tell what his ceiling is.

I guess this is sort of true.

I think the key is to have your own top 5 guys who you draft and develop. Not only are you sure to get the best years out of them, you don't have to give up assets to get them.

When was the last time we drafted in the top 5? But, yeah, a different lottery ball would've been nice this year.

I think the WC was huge for Pionk and he’ll come in with good confidence. I expect him to play above the expectations of many

It's a shame the US was playing in Herning and not Copenhagen. I really wanted to see Kreider and Pionk in action but decided to go for Lias and Zib.

Maybe the lottery balls flow our way this year for a prize that is almost as nice as Dahlin.

Not enough Nieves as 1C with our #1 overall pick playing 2C. Not enough defensemen being moved to forward.

They have a shot at doing it next year as much as some people don’t want to believe it.

I really don't know what to expect this season. I nailed it last year, but this year I think it's just as likely that they're in the race in February for a final playoff spot as they are completely out of it in January.

I don’t see it.

This was I believe a bottom 3 team in the league after the new year and no one ahead of them other than the isles really got worse.

Hanks a year older and what ever they’ll make up on defense by not having AV they’ll probably lose on offense, which wasn’t great last year to begin with.
