Point taken, but who has said he's available? You have a somewhat credible claim that he isn't, and zero claim that he is. In this scenario, I am inclined to believe Brooks.

Was just trying to trash Brooks because he's a ****. I don't think he's available either and really not an option for us anymore.

That Price contract isn't surprising at all. It's what he's worth on the open market. Is the term wild? Yeah...but he's the heart and soul of the entire team. They had to pay him. He's got plenty of elite years left.

At first I thought it was a bad contract but I agree. It's really not going to be an issue for them until like 2022 haha.

With that said, that team has so many holes it may have been better to just trade him and rebuild/retool. They also traded Subban for Weber though (lol) so a move like this was expected.

How can they afford Gally on top of everyone else?

People overestimate how long goalies peaks are, guess it's because we're used to Hank, but remember that Hank is a unicorn, probably the most consistent goalie of all time.
Atleast in the modern game, hard to compare against the old guys :P

Like, goalies have really short peaks and Price is already having issues with his knees, i'm VERY surprised if he has a long peak, i think he'll start regressing pretty soon.

I searched Google and I know it's been posted here so i apologoze in advance, but does anyone have Staal's current movement clause? All I see is his NMC on capfriendly. What's his ntc?

Full NMC entire contract. He cannot be traded or sent down without approval

If it's not a full NMC/NTC clause I would think it's structured similar to Girardi. Full NMC throughout the contract but going from a full NTC to a modified one at a certain point in the contract.

It's structured exactly like Girardi's. Staal's NMC becomes a limited NTC next July

If it's like Girardi's the NMC never goes away, the NTC becomes modified.

NMC prevents a player from being sent to the minors or be able to be selected in expansion drafts.

NTC stop a player from being traded.

I know how it works...

We don't know if Staal's has the NMC throughout, but other than that it's the same as Girardi's

Would you guys do DeAngelo for Galchenyuk?

Although MTL is allergic to young D men...

No I wouldn't. Galchenyuk has been used on the 4th line by his two last coaches for a reason. Sure he is an OK player, but we have targeted a PMD RD for a really long time and Shatty and Smith are not great long term options.

Thanks, big portion is the ntc next season.

Question is how much will staal play this season and is he comfortable with limited time. Most likely, they are looking at him to be a steady presence with so many new guys joining up. We all have our opinions but I doubt they are comfortable with a sophomore and 2 rookies forming half of the regular d. The only other option is Holden which could work.

I would say with the full ntc marc would waive to Minnesota and Carolina. Maybe another team or two right now before he is convinced he's stapled to the bench.

Maybe Gorton is hoping for a bounce back year. Make him tradeable going into the limites ntc year. If that fails, buyout.

there are a bunch of guys with both a NMC and limited/modified NTC but I never understood what the point was. NMC covers all movement. you can't trade, waive or send down. only thing you can do is buyout. So the overlapping NTC is redundant.

my guess is the deals include both clauses but not at the same time.

Let's not forget that Miller was a VERY good 2-way center as he developed. His 19 year old year at the WJC he was used as a center ton of only Drive offense but also shut down the other teams best players. He plays with an edge and he can distribute the puck. I wouldn't be overly opposed to seeing if he can develop more in that direction.

The team as is sorely lacks a guy in the middle who is a bit of a pain to play against. He may thrive more in that head to head matchup because he is so competitive than just playing as a winger.

Yeah, the thing is Miller definitely did not fail at center because he failed at what is specific for a center, he struggled in certain areas -- especially his decision making -- and that was just magnified at center. He still did well in many areas.

I've always thought that he was a natural center type too.
