I mean, Tampa will be set up as a favorite for the next 2-3 years but lets not act like they're going to be a dynasty for the next 5+ years. The cap is set up to cripple you and prevent it. Look at Chicago with their massive contracts. They locked themselves into these deals and were forced to ice guys making nothing in the bottom 6 and bottom pairing and it killed them. They got their 3 Cups so it didn't matter but they're paying the price now. How's Tampa gonna look? They're going to have 10-11+ tied up in Karlsson, 9-10+ in Kucherov, 8.5 in Stamkos, 7.875 in Hedman, 6,75 in McDonagh, Miller Palat and Johnson all at 5+, Point will have to be paid, Vasilevskiy is up in two years, etc. You need constant young and cheap talent coming through the pipeline to compete in this league and in the McDonagh trade alone they've already given up a 1st, a former first in Howden, another really good prospect in Hajek, and a conditional 2nd. This Karlsson trade will cost them way more factoring in them dumping Callahan. They'll certainly be a team that's a top contender for the foreseeable future but it's simply not sustainable in a cap league without your picks and prospects.

This X100000.

Still the right thing for Tampa to do if they can get it done. Also a prime example of why you want a f***ing massive cache of prospects.

I wonder what picks and prospects the Sens will get...could be ugly for Tampa in the long run, without picks and top prospects...

They’re going all in for their window.

Might run into some depth problems at some point, but that’s a problem for another day.

That’s the thing, taking on and re-signing Karlsson does not stop with just getting rid of Callahan. They have to gut the middle of their line-up and it’s going to make them an unbalanced team. Chicago is a perfect example. That’s to say if they even win a cup in this window. How many times has their top 6 turn into a pumpkin at the 11th hour? I mean look at Stamkos’ stats in Game 7’s or the SCF, not good.

LOL! The cap will be 100 million before you know it.

I’d take Cally but I want a guarantee of tbays 1st and 2nd next year .

My only question is what does Tampa send to Ottawa ? The next years 1-2, Sergachev plus ?

Sergachev will go to Ottawa for sure. Most likely Foote as well and a 2020 1st. I think that’s be a nice haul for them considering the circumstances.

Would be very interested in Raddysh. Not sure if he’s the currency TB is willing to use.
It really becomes embarrassing.

So, what would you want back if the Rangers take on Callahan’s deal and send Spooner to Ottawa?

What if the Rangers keep the 2nd without conditions in 2019, and get a 2020 1st instead.?

I think the tier of Foote, Katchouk, and Raddysh would probably be heading to Ottawa and not the Rangers. I don't see those guys being the piece that comes to us to absorb a cap dump.

I think Joseph would be a guy the Rangers would be very interested in. Stephens as well.
