Unless Dorion continues to be an idiot (he probably will though...), I feel like this will fall apart between Tampa and Ottawa. Yzerman is too stubborn to trade for the best defenseman in the world at market value.

To Ottawa: Sergachev, Foote, 2020 1st
To NYR: Cally, Raddysh, Unconditional 2019 1st
To TBay: Karlsson

I don't know that TB lets go of both Sergachev and Foote in the same deal.

I think its more likely that one of the 2 go along with a 2020 1st (unless they can sweeten the pot with Cally enough to convince the Rangers to send the 2019 pick over)

Nope. That's $13MM tied up in steaming pile of poop. Sergachev doesn't make up for that plus that hand ties the Rangers from spending in future offseasons.
Cally only has 2 years left, by the time we're competitive again we'll only have Ryan on the books. We'll have a few players on ELC's, and if we went through with this idea I'd be moving Hayes for futures as well. We would have the cap space to pull this off and still sign Panarin. and if Karlsson is traded to Tampa we aren't signing Karlsson anyway.

It really becomes embarrassing.

So,what would you want back if the Rangers take on Callahan’s deal and send Spooner to Ottawa?

What if the Rangers keep the 2nd without conditions in 2019, and get a 2020 1st instead.?

I think I’d prefer the first be guaranteed in 2019. I like the draft, it keeps the Rangers going on their way, and I figure 2020 is more of the time period the team potentially starts looking to make moves.

But simply guaranteeing a pick the Rangers might get anyway is not going to cut it for me.

Spooner himself is probably worth a second or third.

So I’m probably also asking for a prospect like Stephens or Raddysh, and a second - maybe in 2020.

Or I am asking for Johnson and then flipping one of him or Hayes.

Johnson isn't waiving his NMC to go from a cup contender (fav with EK) to a rebuilding team..

I'm not even sure Callahan will

Don’t see the team taking on both Ryan and Callahan.

I think they’d take Callahan if there’s a way for them to secure a pair of assets.

Don’t think they take Ryan unless someone blows them away with an offer.

The 2019 becoming an unconditional first probably isn’t enough on its own. The Rangers could figure that EK in Tampa gives it good odds of happening anyway, so why take on a bad contract just to increase the odds a little?

That’s where the assets have to come into play, especially if this team is moving a player as part of the deal.

Not to mention that Sergachev is yet ANOTHER LD.

Young D are a commodity though. You can always find trade partners if we get to a spot where we have 7 23-and-under LHD fighting for spots on the roster. For now? I'd happily kick that can down the road to add Sergachev.

That being said, I can't envision a scenario where we actually end up with Sergachev or take on Ryan as well as Callahan. It's likely one or the other and some futures.

When is the new TV contract up?

After the 2020-2021 season, that’s why if the NHL owners are smart (lol I know) they make sure there isn’t a lockout after the CBA expires. I can see the NHL getting a huge TV deal with both NBC and FOX or ESPN similar to what WWE just got with how valuable live content is to networks. Man, if that happens the cap rise will explode similar to what happened with the NBA a few years ago.

Even if I was not completely against it, I dont see how their enough assets to go around to make this worth while for the Rangers.
