Yeah...but with their prospect pool, they could afford to. We don't have the prospect depth to give up Kreider and Miller.

Silvferberg alone could be as good as Ryan. (Lord knows how much he killed the Rangers in his short tenure with the Sens.) They also got a quality prospect in Noesen and a #1...great deal for the Ducks.

Isles re-sign Hamonic. 7 years, $3.85M per.

WHAT. A. STEAL.

i hate that he plays for the Islanders but i wont be shocked if he is gets a A on his jersey in the future.. he is a solid player.

Hamonic just signed for 7 years, 27M. Based on that I think we can McDonagh same length at a little over 30.

I don't understand. Every year, people want to model the team after the two teams who played in the finals.

This team went to the ECF, and then lost in the 2nd round without arguably our best defender and our big money C getting benched.

We have the talent to win the Stanley Cup.

There is not one way to win the Cup. All the moves don't need to be made today. I doubt this is the team we enter the season with.

Do the Bruins have a better 4th line than us? Yes. Do the Hawks have more skill than us? Yes. Do the Flyers have better forwards? Yes. The list goes on and on.

Bottom line, we have Henrik Lundqvist, which means that every year, if we get in the playoffs, we have a legitimate shot to win the Stanley Cup.

The Matteau's and Noonan's can be picked up later for depth, etc.

We don't have to be the Boscago BruHawks.

Every year we have a legit shot to win a cup? Oh sure we do!

Or because we have to resign our RFAs that are huge parts to this team and its future?

I agree Richards should be gone but other than him, who is eating up cap space that shouldn't be? Nash? Lundqvist?

Richards is eating up the cap space of more than one player.

Fantastic signing for the Isles. Travis should sue his agent.

That's a fair price for him right now, and in a few years he could easily be worth $5-6 million.

Give Haley an honest shot. He doesn't hurt you, he'll take on anyone, he's got a mean streak, good team guy and we have him under contract.

i'm down with this mentality and it seems that's the M.O. of the NYR management team. let youth fill these positions in camp. look outside for a piece or 2 for the bottom 9.

Next year with the Richards buyout most likely i'm sure we'll bag a top player. I really can't see how our fans dog the rangers for bad UFA contracts when it seems that's the norm these days ..

Clarkson... Clowe.... really? those and others are all bad moves, but if they work out for their respective teams, they're wins i guess..

What we don't? We have a star player (Nash), an elite goaltender (Henrik), great young defenseman (McDonagh), emerging young players.

The rest is maneuvering. We have a legit chance to win the Cup, yes. Not sure if you were being sarcastic.

Pretty similar to the Staal contract.

It's better. Staal's contract is three seasons old, so you have to take some inflation into consideration, and 7 years saves them a few million as Travis will likely be worth $6 million at that point (development + inflation).

i wish sather could pull something like that hamonic deal off with mcd and stepan. i dont understand why you wouldnt lock these two up long term. 4-5 million each for 7-8 years may be overpayment a little now but will pay off in the long run when these guys could easily be making more once they develop.

The Staal contract when he signed it, I mean. Hamonic's deal takes him 2 years into free agency. Staal's takes him 1 year into free agency. No huge difference.
