GDT: Free Agent Frenzy Part II - Awful deals galore! (Clowe to NJ)

Except it's been proven having Henrik Lundqvist isn't enough. Hank has been here eight years, and we've won five playoff series total in those eight years. In the NHL, that's a huge sample size.

We would need MUCH better players in front of Hank to be legitimate contenders every year.

The point is that we have a good/great team. We have made it to the second round two years in a row and one ECF appearance. Thus, if Lundqvist plays otherworldly, and we get a few surprises, we can find ourselves in the finals with our current roster.

Obviously you want to improve every year, but we don't need to model our team after other teams.

One trade I think would be pretty good for both teams

Kane+Burmistrov+Postma rights

for

Del Zotto+Boyle+Hagelin/Kreider+pick

LeBrun: "David Clarkson signed a big deal in Toronto but I can tell you he left money on the table elsewhere..."

Why would anyone offer him more than that?

What we don't? We have a star player (Nash), an elite goaltender (Henrik), great young defenseman (McDonagh), emerging young players.

The rest is maneuvering. We have a legit chance to win the Cup, yes. Not sure if you were being sarcastic.

When did you become a Rangers fan? Last week? Listen my friend, I'm not being sarcastic here because in case you haven't looked at their pathetic history, we've won exactly 1 cup in 73 years and the roster we have here right is totally flawed. We are small, slow and offensively challenged.
Our defense which is way overrated on these board is chockful of a bunch of left side clones who basically all play the same type of finesse game meaning they never clear anybody out from in front of the net and they don't win a lot of battles in the trenches and along the boards. There isn't a legit #1 defenseman(including McDonagh) on this team nor is there a legit #1 center(unless Richards does a 180 degree turnaround) here.

Nash who I wanted desperately and we gave up a # of core foot soldiers to acquire was a big disappointment in terms of his lack of physicality and compete level last year.

In my opinion, we are a middle of the road team that will struggle to make the playoffs this year.

We are not even in the same stratosphere with the Hawks, Bruins, Pens, Wings, Kings and teams like the Leafs, Bolts, Canadiens, Sharks, Islanders and even the Blue Jackets have gotten bigger and better.

I really don't understand your rationale about our boys. I hope you're right and I end up being wrong!

Well he'd arguably be the 5th best dman if Staal is healthy, but probably 4th. Is he better than McD, Staal, or Girardi? I don't know man.

hamonic would easily be ahead of girardi and del zotto. depending on how staal plays when he comes back, hamonic would be either #2 or #3 on this team.

Exactly right! I was beginning to think I was missing something but the truth is there are way to many fans on here drinking the coolade that the "Teflon GM" has been peddling for 13 yrs and 6 coaches!
This team as presently constructed will struggle to make the playoffs.

Would you really want to though? I am not sure I would. You would be looking at something like Kreider + Miller + 1st '14.

I don't think I would take that considering how inconsistent he is.

considering the people we have passed on for Kreider, he better turn into a legit player.

Not debating that...and it is debatable.

My point is that I constantly read statements that Henrik Lundqvist alone makes us a contender...and we lose playoff games year after year WITH Henrik Lundqvist, often through no fault of his.

We haven't found ourselves in the finals yet with Hank...let's hope this is finally the year.

MDZ, miller, and a 1st would be e equivalent. An yes I would do that deal every day of the week to get another bonafide sniper.

Sens paid pretty good imo

They didn't give up nearly that much. Silfverberg is good but the rest is meh.
