The Rangers have no defenseman on their roster who will move people from in front of their net.

Asham and Haley are good for 3-5 minutes a night. Neither PK's. One dimensional.

Oh wait, according to slipknottin, I want GoOnSZ!

Asham was advertised as a very physical, veteran presence and look how that turned out.

I'm seeing the same thing with scrubs like Nystrom, Hendricks, McLeod, Haley being mentioned as solutions to the Rangers abysmal bottom 6. None of those are skilled players that can play a consistent puck on stick game. I personally do not want a bottom 6 completely filled with hackers and coke machines. We need much more skill, not only in the top 6, but the bottom 6. I want NHL players who can generate offense and can effectively move the puck up the ice, not more guys who keep hitting. We already have Dorsett, Haley and Boyle as options, now we need to surround them with talent.

The problem is still there. Should we just concede that it will never go away?

No, but we don't need to solve it all today. They are most likely looking at guys like Mashinter/Haley to provide some toughness. It just seems to me that people (not you) around here gripe about a lack of speed/skill and then when we add that they gripe about a lack of toughness.

I want guys that can play hockey, the only player on the roster as I see it who should be moved is Pyatt. Although he had success with AV in the past so maybe that can help him, willing to try it.

Outside of that I have no qualms really other than Richards.

If Boyle is our 4th line C and a couple kids fill the holes I'm totally fine with that to start the season, giving Mashinter another look and Haley an actual chance might not be bad. Mashinter-Boyle-Dorsett as a 4th line is big and or tough. As far as the other lines you big bodies, not overly physical at this point, but they can handle that part of the game. Callahan and Hagelin both throw the body around on the forecheck, with different levels of effectiveness, but we're not hitting to hurt, we're trying to wear D pairings down.

Didn't you just bash Dorsett as "only a welterweight"?

Yeah because guys who can actually fight laugh at him. You don't have to be a goon to be a decent fighter. Prust was a great fighter. Dorsett is more like a Sean Avery. He has a huge mouth but he's not a guy I want handling all of our "extracurricular activities".
