Still have the best goaltender and arguably the best blueline in the NHL. Stand pat and tweek the offense. Playing under AV is going to do worlds more for the offense than a couple of personnel changes.

I also think, despite the fact that I loved him as a Ranger, a 26-year old Derick Brassard is more valuable to the Rangers than a 31-year old Marian Gaborik heading into the 2013-14 season. Plus, could Richards possibly be worse?

2012-13
Wingers: Nash, Gaborik, Callahan, Hagelin, Kreider, Pyatt, Asham, Rupp
Centers: Stepan, Richards, Boyle, Halpern

2013-14
Wingers:
Nash=Nash
Callahan=Callahan
Zuccarello < Gaborik
Hagelin (now) > Hagelin (then)
Kreider (now) > Kreider (then)
Pyatt = Pyatt
Dorsett > Rupp
whoever replaces Asham = Asham

Centers:
Stepan (now) > Stepan (then)
Richards = Richards
Brassard >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Boyle
Boyle > Halpern

Sometimes you forget the Rangers are still relatively young. I think they'll be okay.

Plus he's already 28. Even healthy, he'd be slightly overpaid with the type of point production he brings. And not only won't he be healthy, he'll be in his 30's for the bulk of the deal, so the production is going down. I'd be completely depressed if the Rangers made that deal.

I agree, productivity doesn't warrant that big a contract

Stand pat with a team that got whipped in the 2nd round?

I just dont understand the thought process of buying out Grabo for Clarkson. They gave a worse contract to a worse player. WTF

Allegedly Grabovski and the coach did not get along. See the tweets that Grabovski made after being bought out (I heard about it on NHLN)

Richards wasn't actually as bad as people made him out to be. If you pro-rate his numbers to a full season, last season wasn't far behind the year before. He should be good for 55-60 points this season. He'll be overpaid by a ton...but he'll put points on the board.

This is why I will NEVER side with the owners. Its quite fkin simple, stop handing out stupid contracts.

Clarkson's contract just takes money out of another player's pocket. The NHLPA's share is capped. Free agency just determines how it's spread out amongst the players.

Stand pat with a team that got slaughtered in the 2nd round?

They got "slaughtered" by a team that nearly made it to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, and were banged up and without their best overall defender. So yeah, no need for major roster upheaval for the 2nd year in a row.

Even if all the players are the same, that doesn't mean they can't improve. Besides, what do you expect to happen? We don't have any cap space.

Not major, but still have holes

Well if we're just looking at the stats--that's great.

Considering he was going to help our pwp and that hasn't worked out in the last two years--or that he's getting slower and worse defensively and that he made numerous blind bailout before I get hit passes that's enough reason for me anyway that he should be hitting the road. it's not just his stats--his overall game in a lot of areas needs to get a lot better.
